Technical Product Manager

Full-Time Anywhere

What You’ll Do

The Technical Product Manager is a team leader who effectively balances strategic and day-to-day priorities to collaborate with the entire Goodway team – from the President to our talented engineering teams – to ensure that we are building the right products for the right customers and users at the right time. You will possess a combination of organization and domain / industry knowledge to deliver superior technical products for both Goodway internal stakeholders and external clients. You will also possess experience with software development methodologies to efficiently execute product roadmaps from initial conception to general availability launch. The PM is ultimately responsible for successes and failures at all phases of the product lifecycle including:

  • Discovery and Scope
  • Understand key user / customer challenges to define relevant products and feature enhancements
  • Lead relevant stakeholder discussions to drive toward both product scope and timing alignment
  • Establish user empathy via Goodway Group team member and external client shadowing
  • Consistently acquire actionable user and customer feedback via both qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Be the domain and functional expert to answer relevant user and customer questions / requests
  • Manage day-to-day partner / vendor relationships where appropriate
  • Prioritization and Roadmap
  • Identify and assess key product opportunities via internal Goodway Group stakeholder feedback and external market research
  • Define and effectively communicate strategic product priorities and product roadmaps over varying timeframes to a diverse set of stakeholders
  • Deliver key product and stakeholder alignment documentation via relevant artifacts (e.g., product briefs)
  • Ability to make both strategic and spontaneous product decisions with respect to requirements and scope
  • Assess “build vs. buy” implementation decisions with relevant stakeholders and vendors
  • Execution and Roll-out
  • Collaborate with engineering and other stakeholders to manage an effective product development process within a virtual environment
  • Lead teams through the entire product lifecycle including discovery, requirements gathering, implementation, testing and roll-out
  • Experience and intuition to guide teams towards optimal implementation in specific scenarios (e.g., prototype vs. end-to-end solution)
  • Engage product marketing function to align product with market message / position to the external prospects and customers
  • Work with business owners and all involved department stakeholders on product rollouts to ensure full adoption

  • Collaborate with marketing and media stakeholders to deliver appropriate industry and competitive analyses
  • Keep up-to-date with relevant industry news, advance technologies, and evolving trends

You’ll Be Successful Because You Are

  • Knowledgeable
  • Bachelor’s degree required; computer science-related degree is highly desired
  • Digital advertising knowledge required; general programmatic and other ad-tech experience highly desired
  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills and the ability to use metrics to drive business cases
  • Working knowledge of SQL (various flavors), Google Analytics and Microsoft Excel
  • Experienced
  • 4-7 years of experience in a technology-oriented product management role
  • Proven track record of delivering successful products
  • Experience in an Agile development environment is highly desired
  • Prior experience with relevant software project management software (e.g., Pivotal, Rally, etc.) is highly desired
  • Prior experience with various user research techniques (e.g., focus groups, com) is highly desired
  • A Strong Communicator: ability to communicate in a concise and precise manner across a diverse set of audiences
  • Self-Aware: continuously learning, evolving and improving to shifting market, organizational and professional dynamics
  • Disciplined: strong time-management skills and ability to prioritize and execute
  • Scrappy: willing to roll up your sleeves and do what is necessary

Things You Should Know

  • Our workdays can sometimes be long and unpredictable. You should be comfortable and capable of sitting and/or standing at a desk for at least 8 hours
  • Twice per year we gather together to work and play for a week. Both retreats are “can’t miss” events
