Job Description

We’re looking for an energetic leader to help us build a new product – an online directory of the best advisory services in Africa and South Asia.  You’ll drive the creation, delivery and uptake of the product, which aims to bridge a critical information gap in emerging markets.  Your work has the potential to be exciting, innovative and deeply impactful.

Role Description

You’ll drive the product from concept to launch.  You’ll build a team and set of processes around the product.  You’ll design a marketing strategy that builds a community around the product.  You’ll do this from within a new, entrepreneurial team at CDC, one of the biggest investors in Africa and South Asia.  This will give you both a start-up environment to operate within, as well as the support that comes from a larger organisation.

Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Set the strategic direction for the product
  • Design the business plan to commercialise the product

Product Management

  • Gather user and service provider feedback
  • Manage our digital agency
  • Lead development of a great front-end for the product
  • Lead development of a back-end database and CRM

Team Management

  • Manage the tech agency, data team and marketing team
  • Train team in product management best practices
  • Design in-house digital team to manage the product in the long-term

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7 years start-up/product management experience in the tech sphere
  • Creating a product roadmap and structuring design sprints
  • Proven experience managing cross-functional teams
  • Sales and marketing experience
  • A good understanding of customer and user experience testing and design
  • Comfort working in a face paced, start-up environment with a growing team

  • Strong data analytics capabilities
  • Ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders in a collaborative manner
  • Passionate about international development
  • MBA or similar
