Senior Product Owner

We’re looking for a Staff Product Owner to help us shape the future of education. This role focuses on our Community Engagement platform. You’ll help provide K-12 schools with reliably hosted and low-maintenance content management systems. This product allows parents access to a dashboard full of personalized student data and engages community members with news and upcoming events on a modern, mobile-friendly website. You’ll continually enhance and support the ability for each school to maintain its own online presence.

As Staff Product Owner, you will be responsible for driving and defining the requirements of new products and services within our company. You’ll have a solid grasp on data analytics, strategy, requirements documentation, and Agile/Scrum methodologies in order to deliver a high-quality product to increase company revenue.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Serving as Staff Product Owner for up to four highly complex teams
  • Evaluating data and insights for comprehensive strategy and initiative planning
  • Collaborating with Product Design team, Product Management, the Scrum team, and other stakeholders to establish timeline workflows, benchmarks, goals, and detailed requirements
  • Using data and analytics as a basis for road mapping
  • Demonstrating the ability to negotiate and influence priority between stakeholders to ensure the highest quality product is delivered
  • Consolidating Epic data into user stories and other necessary product requirements
  • Establishing initiatives and aligning with cross-functional product and organizational goals
  • Writing user stories (acceptance criteria, definition of done, in scope/out of scope, and other supporting documentation) and prioritizing the backlog including functional and non-functional requirements
  • Ensuring that our product aligns with our company’s mission and goals
  • Ensuring that cross-functional dependency mapping is established, well maintained, and documented
  • Ensuring the delivery of high-quality requirements based on the strategic vision of Product Management
  • Executing SDLC processes as defined while identifying process inefficiencies to the team
  • Demonstrating the ability to identify process inefficiencies, recommend solutions, and influence change across organizations
  • Acting as a subject matter expert and mentor to other Product Owners within the organization
  • Coaching and advising the Scrum team and stakeholders on best practices

The Candidate:

  • Has a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Has 10+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or in a related field
  • Has 10+ years of Agile experience
  • Has an exceptional understanding of Agile methodologies, a technical understanding of products, and is up-to-date on industry standards and best practices
  • Has an exceptional understanding of the product lifecycle and software development lifecycle processes
  • Has excellent communication skills
  • Pays accurate and precise attention to detail
  • Can build strong interpersonal relationships with Product Management, UI/UX/Design team, leadership, senior management, and internal and external stakeholders
  • Is comfortable working with multiple teams that are in-house, remote, and internationally located
  • Certification for Pragmatic Marketing or Product Ownership is preferred
  • An in-depth understanding of Agile methodologies, products, and industry standards and best practices is a plus
  • Experience with Agile tools such as JIRA/Confluence, Portfolio, Pivotal, etc. is desired
  • Experience performing customer analysis is beneficial
  • Experience identifying and communicating cross-functional dependencies is preferred
