Digital Product Manager

Job purpose:

At YoungMinds, we work hard to ensure that young people’s voices are at the heart of everything we do. This important new role has been introduced to help us to maximise the reach and impact of our youth participation work through the value of digital. A key support for our digital adoption, the role will be focused on leading our digital ambitions, to engage more young people than ever before in mental health co-production, research and campaigning, from discovery to MVP to scaling take up. Working with a healthy budget, alongside a brilliant digital agency and real commitment at senior level, you will develop, prototype and test ideas in a user-centric, insight driven way. You will also build relationships and provide digital expertise to up-skill and inspire staff across the charity, helping to embed an agile digital product management culture and practice.

Key responsibilities and duties:
• Lead the adoption of agile principles and ways of working in our digital participation development and use and model a lean and agile approach to product and service design and development • Act as principle liaison and point of contact for our chosen digital agency, ensuring we maximise the expertise they bring to the project, and that they keep to brief and budget
• Lead our iterative development through to a soft launch, gathering and interpreting user insight to evaluate and improve product performance

 Work with your Project Team, including staff from digital communications, participation and data, and the digital agency, to conduct an extensive discovery phase, testing our assumptions, understanding the landscape and our users’ needs in order to refine our vision for the product

 Build and own the product vision by creating and maintaining a product roadmap

 Lead, alongside our agency, on user involvement, testing and analysis activity, ensuring they are meeting user need

 Work alongside our Senior Youth Engagement Officer to ensure our Young Activists and Youth Advisers are key partners in codeveloping the platform

 Act as an expert link between the agency, product and technology, and our Project Team and young people

 Lead or assist in workshops and meetings as required

 Lead a process for the prioritisation of new product features as we iterate

 Work with the Brand and Marketing Manager and Digital Communications Manager to develop a plan to take the product to market

 Manage the project budget and ensure timely and efficient internal project reporting

• Build relationships, support learning and provide digital expertise to other parts of the charity, as part of increasing understanding and adoption of the value of digital

 Work in a collaborative, cross-discipline team framework  Share your knowledge and expertise to up-skill others in your Project Team in digital product development methodologies and practices  Share knowledge and champion our product management approach across the wider charity  Build strong relationships with product and service stakeholders (internal and external)  Act as a consultant and reviewer for cross-organisational projects as required

• Monitor the digital landscape, technology trends and the sector to help us improve products and services

 Track and share knowledge about emerging technologies and trends that have potential for this project, or other areas of business across YoungMinds  Help the charity understand and adapt to the changing nature of audiences and their behaviours  Advise on use of established digital platforms

• Other duties that may from time to time be necessary, compatible with the nature and grade of this post.

General:

• Ensure effective consideration and approaches for safeguarding as part of our digital development

• Maintain and observe an appropriate level of confidentiality at all times

• Form effective working relationships with all staff members, volunteers, child mental health agencies and relevant external organisations

• Be responsible and accountable for safeguarding and follow the organisation’s policy and procedures at all times
