Shelter has big ambitions for digital and creative. We help millions of people each year by doing exciting service design work that affects our brand, digital products, campaigns, fundraising activities, helpline, and centres around the country.

About the role

You’ll be responsible for the planning, delivery, maintenance and optimisation of digital products to support Shelter’s fundraising and e-commerce strategy.

Working within a multi-disciplinary digital team alongside UX designers, developers, content designers and testers, you’ll manage the product backlog, helping to organise the rhythms of agile delivery and looking for opportunities to deliver the best results for Shelter’s commercial and fundraising efforts.

You’ll also champion agile digital development, working alongside other specialists to support colleagues around the organisation in developing a digital vision for their business area, translating challenges and opportunities into excellent digital solutions. This includes developing product visions, establishing meaningful metrics, capturing needs and ideas, validating them with data, and running workshops.

About you

You should also be used to working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, enabling people with different skills to work together to a common aim. A good working knowledge of web technologies, including those relating to transactions, payments and e-commerce, and an awareness of the possibilities of digital is important too.

What’s more, you should be a great communicator who’s comfortable working to bring about change. Adept at influencing stakeholders and navigating differing viewpoints while building close working relationships, helping colleagues from different disciplines understand product goals and work together to bring them about also comes naturally to you.

Ideally, you have a certification in a relevant discipline, such as Scrum, while knowledge of other methodologies would be helpful. What’s essential is that you can bring an empathetic approach to Shelter’s service users, ensuring products meet end user and organisational needs. You’ll also need to strive to act on the insights Shelter gains from its users, and be committed to continuously improving our products and working practices.

Open to constructive challenge and comfortable working with evidence and making your case using research and data, you approach problems creatively and work to maximise the impact of things we learn.
