Transactional Advertising Product Manager – London/Peterborough/Sheffield

Johnston Press work will SMB’s from all industries and sizes. This role will be to deliver and manage advertising products and services to meet the needs of smaller and one off clients.

The role will be to own the strategy and implementation of the self service engine and the transactional digital products across the Johnston Press portfolio

The successful candidate will work with other key stakeholders to establish the strategic vision of the products and implement the tactic initiatives to achieve the vision and to grow revenues. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of big picture vision, commercial understanding, product development experience and the drive to make the vision a reality in every detail.

Working within the Commercial Product and Platforms team, you’ll work alongside a team focused on building new products to grow digital revenues across Johnston Press.

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Director – Commercial Products you will execute on new product development and updates with a focus on innovation, quality and efficiency.

Source new products or build relationships with external supplies to deliver new products that will drive audience engagement and revenues.

Working closely with the sales teams to understand future requirements, attending relevant meetings when new advertising requirements are being developed.

Execute data-based rigor in regularly re-evaluating existing ad capabilities, centrally tracking performance metrics.

Understand the ROI of all ad products to implement complimentary products within the portfolio

Day-to-day management and ownership of the products, reporting on success and identifying opportunities.

Management of the self service booking process to drive increased revenues through optimisation and A:B testing techniques

Work within an agile development methodology, turning concepts into clear technical requirements and actively participating in the agile development process with the wider digital product team.

Champion self service tools and sharing knowledge, new product launch and success within Sales, Design, Marketing, Digital, Finance and Operations.

Actively participate in the sales process as the expert on Johnston Press’ transactional products making sure the dispersed sales force have knowledge and confidence in selling digital products.

Provide Sales Managers and Directors with visual data products to assist their management and success of our SME transactional business.

Maintain active knowledge of the competitive landscape, market innovations, new industry guidelines, and developments in the ad tech industry.

Take on additional projects as and when required by the Director of Commercial Products.

Requirements:

Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a digital product manager role
Knowledge of self service transactional techniques
Knowledge of the publishing industry and ideally local newspapers
Strong understanding of product development and ability to guide products through their life-cycle
Proven experience collaborating with designers and technical resources to bring creative concepts to reality
Demonstrated success driving revenue uplift from new product initiatives
Ability to balance competing priorities and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Expert in using Excel, organizing and presenting data
Able to make decisions based on market research, data analysis and commercial objectives
Flexible, personable, and solutions oriented attitude
Able to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team
