Product Owner

We’re looking for a smart, analytical, people-focussed agile enthusiast with a passion for product development who can take charge of their feature squad’s product backlog and help our brilliant software engineers make the best product they possibly can. Reporting to the Head of Product and Delivery, you’ll be your squad’s go-to person for their day-to-day product needs, whilst also working with the rest of the product team on our product vision.

What does the opportunity look like day-to-day?

  • Owning your backlog – keeping it prioritised, refining it, adding new items and binning things you don’t want
  • Working really closely with your squad – sharing the product vision, answering questions, making decisions and signing off features
  • Analysing user requirements, working out real user needs and turning them into user stories
  • You’ll be a key participant in backlog refinement, three amigo sessions, stand-ups and retrospectives
  • You’ll also be running workshops, facilitating user research sessions with the UX team and meeting with potential and current customers about new opportunities

What you will bring to the team:

  • Top class analytical skills
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of – and a real enthusiasm for – agile software development
  • Experience of writing user stories and acceptance criteria
The ability to evaluate information and make speedy decisions
  • You’re comfortable setting goals and defining success metrics.
  • You can design, run, and interpret experiments and A/B tests.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to engage with developers, colleagues across the organisation, end-users and business stakeholders
  • A proactive attitude with the confidence to work autonomously
  • An eye for good design and a passion for building great user experiences

It would be also great if you:

  • Love learning – we’d love someone with a growth mindset, who knows when to try new things
  • Understand the principles of Kanban and Scrum
  • Have experience working on a consumer product
  • Have worked in cross-functional teams
  • Have experience of working with AI
  • Are interested in any or all of the following:
    • User experience 3
    • Lean methodologies
    • The jobs-to-be-done framework
    • Behaviour driven development

We Offer:

  • Fabulous office space
  • A relaxed and informal working environment
  • Central Manchester location
  • Working with a diverse, talented team
  • Competitive Salary
  • Open holidays
  • Pension scheme
  • Health insurance
  • Share options
  • Flexible working
  • Food for Thought! Kitchen with free tea & coffee, soft drinks, cereal and fruit
  • Great social activities
  • Referral bonus – if someone you introduce joins the company
  • Cycle To Work scheme

Equality of opportunity is at the heart of our recruitment process. You’ll be judged on your suitability for the job and nothing else.
