At Wayhome we are reinventing homeownership by co-investing with people who haven’t been able to buy a home yet. We’re a small team of Engineers, Property Specialists, Data Scientists and Creatives, who are addressing one of the biggest and most life-changing problems our customers have: namely, how can they get the security and freedom of homeownership for their families and for themselves.

The role

On the customer-facing side, the Product team you will lead is responsible for:
i) the ‘Find a home’ experience, that converts users to qualified leads
ii) the ‘Buy a home’ feature that supports the user through the homebuying journey
iii) and the ‘Living experience’, that supports the user while they’re living in their Wayhome property.

Alongside this, the Product team is building a suite of genuinely revolutionary operational tools that allows what is traditionally a labour-intensive homebuying process to operate at significant scale.

Reporting to Nigel Purves, our COO (and one of the founders of the business), you will shape and lead the Product function, coaching and managing a team of product managers and creatives and attracting and retaining a high calibre team. You will set and define the product vision and the product plan, and execute against that plan. You will collaborate with the marketing team on growth marketing work, and foster collaboration with the engineering team on product development. And while this is a ‘Head of’ role, we see this position quickly evolving to become more strategic: as a stepping stone to becoming our Chief Product Officer, who will help grow the business internationally and diversify our product offering as we scale.

Who you are

You will have several years product management experience in which you will have been a Head of Product within a consumer-facing tech company.
You will have managed product managers, creatives and user researchers while leading product development from conception to successful launch.
You will have defined product strategy, set vision and built value propositions that put consumers at the heart.
You will be an influential communicator, able to engage stakeholders across levels and achieve buy-in through data led discussions.
You will be experienced at engaging a team, able to lead from the front and the back, depending on the situation.
You will be comfortable and experienced with growth-centred and user-centred approaches to product development, remembering the ultimate importance of both user needs and business goals.
You will be flexible, open and pragmatic, able to spot solutions to problems that others think are too challenging.

The skills you’ll have

You’ll have developed high growth technology products and services. You’ll have product marketing management experience.
You’ll understand how to navigate between product priorities and budget and timelines.
You will have hired and developed high-performing teams, understanding and appreciating the need for collaboration and placing an emphasis on teamwork.
You’ll have a high level of emotional intelligence, pragmatically working towards business goals.

What you’ll do

You will be at the forefront of defining our product vision.
You’ll be the guardian of the product process, overseeing requirements gathering, product planning and design of new features and enhancements.
You will be the owner of the prioritisation process, ensuring we build the right things in the right order.
You’ll be the voice of our users, providing empathy and inspiration to the teams building out the product experience.
You’ll also execute on projects as necessary, occasionally product managing your own.
You’ll be working cross-functionally. You’ll support the marketing team to grow and manage supply and demand for our marketplace.
You’ll work with our team of Engineers to ensure collaboration is at the heart of our product development. And you’ll work with our Data team on machine-learning based solutions to complex problems.
