Product Manager

At Float, we’re gearing up for big things, and we need you to help us deliver on a really important aspect of our strategy. We’re on a mission to put cash flow at the heart of every business, and we need a Product Manager to help us do that.

If you want to take ownership of solving really important problems, be trusted to get the job done, have a real impact on a growing business with huge potential, and work with smart, motivated people; we should talk.

Who We Are

Float helps businesses and accountants with one of the most crucial aspects of running a business – forecasting how much cash will be in the bank in the future. And we do this by helping them create a cash flow forecast they can trust. It’s a product people love, because it solves a real and important problem in a simple, elegant way.

At Float, we’re a humble, authentic and curious bunch. We don’t always think we know best, but we believe in what we create and we listen. It’s important to us to be real in everything we say & do, and we’re always seeking to learn and understand ‘why?’. We work together as one team, and we’re always pushing ourselves to get better. We often lunch together, especially on Fridays when we break bread as a team.

What you’ll be doing

Put simply, you’ll focus on making Float even more valuable for customers, in alignment with our overall strategy. You’ll need to manage, assess and synthesise information from a range of sources in order to help you prioritise opportunities. You’ll work to understand the problems that you’re tackling through research and regular interaction with customers, and you’ll define and frame those problems for the team.

You’ll motivate the team to collaborate and solve those problems with elegant solutions, while scoping these solutions to ensure you’re shipping to customers as soon as possible. You’ll also evaluate whether these solutions have solved these problems effectively.

Who We’re Looking For

Building a great product means working on the most important things – the things that solve important problems for real people, and that contribute to our growth as a business.

That’s where you come in. You’ll be a product manager (ideally from a tech/software background) who has taken significant initiatives from start to finish, and you’ll have the confidence and experience to hit the ground running. You’ll thrive on autonomy, and taking ownership of important challenges. You enjoy leading a team and creating a collaborative environment that gets the best out of everyone.

You’ll have a mix of curiosity and perseverance, and you’re driven to keep digging to understand what users are trying to achieve, and how to help them achieve it. You empathise with the user at every step, and it’s important to you to understand what they’re going through. You’ll have experience in undertaking customer research, and be comfortable digging into the data and uncovering valuable insights.

You can take others on the journey, and get key stakeholders on board with what you’re proposing. You’re able to think tactically, and strategically about what’s right for Float. You’re a confident communicator, both written and verbal. An eye for good product design would be a real bonus.

Learning and Development

Curiosity and continuous improvement are part of our core values as a company. We aim to develop as a team, as individuals and as a product. We support longer-term development and progression. We’re constantly exploring new ways of doing things and learn from each other by working closely together as a team.

How Float Makes a Difference

Over 16 million people are employed by SMEs in the UK alone, so helping these companies to grow faster and survive longer has a real impact. We’ve built Float to give small businesses the insight and visibility they need to succeed, because cash flow forecasting is essential for every big business decision, from hiring a new member of staff to taking out a loan. Getting these decisions right can mean the difference between success and going bust.

We’re part of a rapidly growing market place as businesses increasingly switch to Cloud accounting. The very nature of what it means to be an accountant is changing, meaning Float has a truly exciting opportunity to define the future of cash flow.

Diversity

Different people bring with them different ways of thinking and we believe it’s both to our advantage and our responsibility to bring these different perspectives into our company. Diversity in the workplace is a great asset and we want our recruitment talent pool to be as open as possible, so we strongly encourage applications from any background.
