Product Manager – Search Platform

Our Product Design and Management teams work tirelessly to understand what our customers need and make it a reality. They’re the ones who make our deals come to life and our user experience simple and intuitive.

The Flight Product Team at Priceline.com is seeking a Product Manager with a strong background in backend technology, as well as an empathic understanding of customer painpoints, and skillful stakeholder management. Position is based in  our Norwalk, CT office with one day per week travel to our NYC office.

The Core Flight Search Platform PM is responsible for the backend business logic that governs search logic – when thousands of itineraries are available, which ones should be returned to the customer? How should the be combined? How should they be priced? How should they be sorted? The inventory is then distributed via the priceline.com API to our website, native apps, meta searches, and other partners. This role is equal parts new product development and existing platform maintenance (interfacing with internal stakeholders in Finance, Supply Business, Customer Service, etc.).

What You’ll Do:

Work with internal and external stakeholders (internal such as supply, finance, marketing; external such as content providers like the GDS and Airlines) to implement and optimize features in flight search (optimizing requests and processing of results to create and select itineraries and deals).

Define product specifications, establish milestones, and manage tech design, development and QA for your scrum team of 6-8 engineers, and be accountable for delivery of product by this team.
Spend time in quantitative data monitoring KPIs around platform health and content quality (competitiveness, coverage), and understanding the relationship between those metrics and user conversion metrics.

Research, troubleshoot, diagnose, and recommend solutions to complex business and technical problems.
Be the glue! The product manager holds an organization together – it is part of your job to communicate often with all team members.

Get your hands dirty. We are a lean team and there is no job too big or too small. Some days you will be planning the strategy for the next quarter, and other days you will be diving into database records to troubleshoot an issue.
What We’re Looking For:

4+  years experience as a product manager with at least 2 working with a backend engineering team to deliver APIs or similar technology/SaaS solution products.

Experience running agile scrum product development with teams of 6-8 engineers.

Experience balancing and prioritizing the needs of internal and external stakeholders

Experimental and data driven approach. Strong analytical skills. Able to interpret data and trends, diagnose problems, and recommend action plans to resolve issues

A high-EQ people-leader who builds and maintains strong team culture and stakeholder relationships.

A self-starter who is very organized confident and able to move projects forward with little direction, while communicating regularly to impacted parties, and remaining in alignment with team best practices.

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills – from product specifications, to JIRA tickets, to stakeholder presentations
Experience with basic SQL

A desire to work in a fast-paced, results driven environment with multiple responsibilities.

Experience working in airline/GDS a plus.

BS/BA required.

Demonstrated history of living the values important to priceline: Customer, Innovation, Team, Accountability and Trust. Unquestionable integrity and ethics
Why you’ll love working with us:

Creating flight deals helps customers afford travel, so that they can be with their friends and family for moments that matter.

Managing customers through negative experiences like schedule changes or cancellations (all managed through the platform) makes a huge difference in their loyalty.

You and your scrum team will be fully enabled to accomplish your roadmap without dependencies on other teams.

The Flights product and development team has a strong team culture – you’ll be part of an organization that cares about their product as well as each other.
