Who are we?
Silicon Milkroundabout’s events are a loved component of the UK’s technology scene. Developers, designers, product people and marketers use us to meet and join the teams behind the most exciting tech companies in the country. More than 2,000 talented people have found new jobs through us since our first event in 2011.
We’re taking our successful event format global under a new brand, ‘The Round’. Our first non-UK event takes place in New York on 16th April 2016.
About the project
We want to get under the hood and understand how software developers in New York manage their careers. What are the similarities between our users here in London, and the software community in New York? What are the support networks and interest groups on the ground in New York that are already helping developers figure out their next move? And who are the influencers that could tell talented software developers that we exist, and that we can help them?
We expect you to operate with significant autonomy when it comes to figuring out how to get hold of the next developer to interview, the next survey respondent to chase. And fairly quickly, be operating at some scale — collecting dozens of survey responses and conduct 10+ remote user interviews per week. Along the way you will collate and regularly communicate your findings to the rest of the business so we can make the right decisions in all areas of planning for this event.
The deliverables of this project are:
#1 — Answer the question: how do we design our event to be of maximum help to New York’s developer community?
#2 — Engage with hundreds of developers who will find our April event useful — and who will now know about it!
#3 — Be part of discovering the messaging that helps us reach more developers
