JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of this role is to lead the creation of new products and services for Pole Star in the assigned target markets. This role will be responsible for the full product lifecycle of the products and services assigned, communicating status and issues, responding to competitive threats, and developing new features to meet the needs of the market.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Undertake competitive analysis and create materials that can be shared company wide as well as with partners
o Define key competitors and their USPs
o Articulate gaps in the market and Pole Star’s participation strategy
o React and update key documents based on news and events in the industry
• Create and get approval for business cases for new products and services as well as any projects undertaken within the target markets
o Define lifecycle and market approach for products and services using specific market analysis tools including value propositions, 5 Forces strategic maps, magic quadrants and Boston matrixes
o Articulate the addressable market, market share, volumes and participation strategy
o Define and plan the operational impact of adopting the business plan
• For new products and services:
o Create hypotheses and conduct user research
o Create and document user stories
o Create and document user personas
o Create and document user journeys
o Assist in development and review detailed requirements
• Provide subject matter expertise to the rest of the company as products and services are introduced
• Participate in product launch activities and review public facing materials and messages
• Participate in the definition of key projects and customisation of products and services
• Develop and recommend pricing models
KEY SKILLS
• Demonstrated expertise in competitive analysis
• Proven expertise in managing software and cloud based products
• Familiar with Agile development methodologies
• Working well with global development teams
• Demonstrated understanding of technology trends
• Demonstrated product management expertise
• Win/Loss analysis
• Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Jira and prototyping skills
• Ability to present both in public and via web
