Head of Product

At Float, we’re gearing up for big things having just received a substantial investment, and we need your help to deliver the next evolution of our product vision. We’re on a mission, to help small businesses feel in control of their finances, by making sense of cashflow. It’s now more important than ever.

We need someone to help us scale our product delivery team. If you’re the kind of person who can take ownership of solving really important problems, be trusted to get the job done and work with smart, motivated people; we’d love to talk.

Who We Are
Float helps businesses and accountants with one of the most crucial aspects of running a business – forecasting how much cash will be in the bank in the future. And we do this by helping them create a cashflow forecast they can trust. It’s a product people love because it solves a real and important problem in a simple, elegant way.

At Float, we’re a humble, authentic and curious bunch. We don’t always think we know best, but we believe in what we create and we listen. It’s important to us to be real in everything we say & do, and we’re always seeking to learn and understand ‘why?’. We work together as one team, and we’re always pushing ourselves to get better. We often lunch together, especially on Fridays when we order for the whole team.

What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll focus on building a fast-moving, innovative product team, to deliver a world-class product. You’ll need to manage, assess and synthesise information from a range of sources in order to inform product strategy, and initiatives to deliver that strategy.

You’ll work closely with the senior leadership team to inform & shape business strategy, and you’ll lead the creation of the appropriate product strategy to deliver on company objectives.

You’ll be responsible for executing key aspects of your product strategy, as part of a collaborative, cross-functional software delivery team – you’ll take the lead in helping your delivery team to define team objectives, prioritise the most important things to focus on, and deliver brilliant software solutions.

Who We’re Looking For
Building a great product means working on the most important things – the things that solve important problems for real people, and that contribute to our growth as a business.

That’s where you come in. You’ll be an experienced product manager (ideally from a tech/software background) who has taken significant initiatives from start to finish, and you’ll thrive on the opportunity to influence the strategic direction at Float and be the voice of product within the leadership team.

You’ll thrive on autonomy, and taking ownership of important challenges. You enjoy leading a team and creating a collaborative environment that gets the best out of everyone.

You’ll have a mix of curiosity and perseverance, and you’re driven to keep digging to understand what users are trying to achieve, and how to help them achieve it. You empathise with the user at every step, and it’s important to you to understand what they’re going through. You’ll have experience in undertaking customer research and be comfortable digging into the data and uncovering valuable insights.

You can take others on the journey, and get key stakeholders on board with what you’re proposing. You’re able to think tactically, and strategically about what’s right for Float. You’re a confident communicator, both written and verbal. An eye for good product design would be a real bonus.

Learning and Development
Curiosity and continuous improvement are part of our core values as a company. We aim to develop as a team, as individuals and as a product. We support longer-term development and progression. We’re constantly exploring new ways of doing things and learn from each other by working closely together as a team.

How Float Makes a Difference
Over 16 million people are employed by SMEs in the UK alone, so helping these companies to grow faster and survive longer has a real impact. We’ve built Float to give small businesses the insight and visibility they need to succeed, because cash flow forecasting is essential for every big business decision, from hiring a new member of staff to taking out a loan. Getting these decisions right can mean the difference between success and going bust.

We’re part of a rapidly growing market place as businesses increasingly switch to Cloud accounting. The very nature of what it means to be an accountant is changing, meaning Float has a truly exciting opportunity to define the future of cash flow.

Diversity
Different people bring with them different ways of thinking and we believe it’s both to our advantage and our responsibility to bring these different perspectives into our company. Diversity in the workplace is a great asset and we want our recruitment talent pool to be as open as possible, so we strongly encourage applications from any background.
