We are looking for someone who loves products, loves games, and would love nothing more than to combine the two every day at “work.”
As GameSpot’s Product Manager, you are the voice of the user, responsible for analyzing the market for opportunities and threats, building a product roadmap, and leading a talented, entrepreneurial team of developers and designers to bring those ideas to life across both web and mobile platforms. You will manage and pace the development process from scoping through design, development, testing, release, and optimization.
You will collaborate with other groups including Content, Product Marketing, and Growth & Engagement, gathering their input and requirements and keeping them apprised of progress.
In this role, you will:
Build and maintain a product roadmap, understanding the cost/benefit tradeoffs of each feature to make efficient use of development resources
Always be testing! You will create hypotheses for new features, analyze results, and iterate
Ensure clear, timely delivery of requirements to the development team, and give feedback on completed work
Identify third-party services that can be leveraged to add value for users, speed up development, or reduce load on the development team
Balance the needs of the user with those of the business to ensure the team is creating compelling user experiences that also generate business value
Be an internal and external evangelist for GameSpot
Qualifications
A strong interest in video game culture and business
Familiarity with and opinions on UX/UI design patterns
Experience working on a large-scale website with strong community elements
Ability to write basic marketing/site copy
History of working with designers and developers to build products
Basic understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JS)
Fundamental SEO knowledge
Must successfully pass background check
Preferred
Knowledge of online video distribution and streaming technologies is a strong plus
Experience with online analytics and A/B testing tools
Experience with mobile web is a strong plus
Experience analyzing and optimizing user acquisition and retention
Familiarity with off-site marketing/social channels such as Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter
Experience designing CMS tools and UI
You’ve been to E3 or PAX
This role reports to the Director of Product for CBSi Games.
