Senior UX designer

This role is a fix term contract for a 6 months time potentially extendable up to 12 months. Starting date 1st of September 2020.

Reporting to the Head of Design & Marketing as a Senior UX designer you will be focusing primarily on:

Operate end-to-end, from research to delivery to continuous post-launch product development.Work to help define both the long-term strategy and short-term product design tactics and help the wider company understand and appreciate the impact of great design and how to make it happen.
Build empathy for our customers. Understand their wants and needs and translate their findings into best-in-class product design.

Accountability & Responsibility
Understand user’s goals and key areas to explore and investigate.
Establish and develop good relationships with your product team, key stakeholders, development engineers and the wider UXD practice.
Help develop and constantly improve processes for design team and how other departments collaborate with the team.
Influence and champion the Equals product component library helping develop a consistent design language across brand collateral and product design.
Challenge the status quo, with succinct and accessible user insight and/or data to influence stakeholders and product teams.
Able to identify gaps and opportunities to improve the experience.
Lead & inspire, evangelising design both internally and externally.
Help act as a custodian of consistent design and narrative.

About You
Have solid grounding in experience design methods, interaction design, HCI principles, IA, research and testing principles.
Deep knowledge and broad experience of user centred design methodologies.
Design products that are reliable and feel lightweight and ensure that users can still achieve their goals quickly and easily.
Questioning and naturally curious. Has strong analytical skills and ability to synthesise understanding from multiple inputs (quantitative and qualitative) to drive product and experience strategy.
Help stakeholders build a better understanding about UX activities and research and how it moves the programme to delivering excellent user experiences.
Work with your product owner to design and run collaborative workshops with our stakeholders and customers.
Ability to manage workloads and priorities, whilst taking direction from leads and product teams.
Monitor new developments in the user experience field, and be aware of ways in which you can incorporate them into the work.
Strong lateral concept thinking, thinks beyond the obvious and has the ability to balance tactical and strategic viewpoints.

Previous experience
Experience in cutting-edge digital applications including web solutions, software, mobile and other interactive devices.
In house an/or agency experience.
Proficient with industry standard tools for wireframing and creating designs using Figma.
Experience working with agile and scrum methodologies.
Good communication skills.
Be a strong team player with a willingness to share ways of working to others within your team.
Degree in relevant area preferred – Interaction Design, HCI, Human Centred Design Systems, etc.

Nice to have
UI Design experience.
Workshop facilitation. Experience in shaping and running user Testing Sessions and translating findings to design interventions.
