Role: Senior Product Manager
Start date: asap
Finematter is a fashion-tech start-up, on a mission to digitize the EUR 300bn+ jewellery market, one of the last remaining analog industries in the global retail landscape.
As a marketplace, our ambition is twofold;
1/ Create the leading online destination for fine jewellery. We want to redefine the category as we know it, and transform the way people think about and buy jewellery – taking jewellery from consumption good to asset
2/ Help creative entrepreneurs in the jewellery industry scale beyond one store. We want to build the new operating system for the entire industry, and solve the most complex challenges for maker-CEOs, from certification and inventory management to pricing and raw material cost hedging.
The scale of the opportunity is enormous. People have bought and traded in jewellery since the beginning of time, and in most cultures, people’s most significant life events are eternalized with jewellery. The global jewellery market is valued at more than EUR 300bn, and we’re building a modular end-to-end technology platform to connect makers with buyers all across the globe and change the way this market operates today.
With offices in London and Copenhagen, Finematter has its roots in Scandinavian design with a global outlook. We’ve just raised a EUR 1.7 million Seed Round to turbo-charge the business and start scaling, fast.
Finematter.com is looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead the product development process and commercialisation of our marketplace platform, which will be critical for realising our goal of becoming the leading destination for jewellery on the www. You will join a well-funded start-up, backed by world-class investors, as one of the first ten employees. In this role, you will be a core part of Finematter’s founding team and will have the opportunity to have a major impact on shaping our business.
We are looking for an analytically minded and seasoned product manager with experience in end-to-end product development and validation. You’ve likely worked at a later-stage marketplace that has successfully scaled and recognize the opportunity to come in and apply the skills you’ve gained there to add significant value to Finematter at this early stage of our company’s life. You are passionate about the particular complexities that marketplaces involve, and finding the perfect solutions in an environment with many different types of stakeholders. You are equally as passionate about the product ideation and discovery process as about validating, iterating and optimizing, and have a track-record of significant results to show for it.
Product management at Finematter will involve many facets. We’re a consumer-facing brand, with the ambition to change the way women think about and buy jewellery and to develop new tech-supported shopping experiences that have the potential to redefine the jewellery category. We’re a B2B partner for our goldsmiths, with the ambition to become their primary distribution channel, as well as advisor on crucial back-office functions from pricing to sourcing. We’re a media, with photo-studio, content production and samples handling. And we are an early-stage start-up with lots of internal processes that have yet to be established and are in need of designing to keep our company moving full steam ahead.
Primary areas of responsibility:
- Define a product roadmap for Finematter aligned with our ambition to become the leading destination for fine jewellery online, change the jewellery buying experience, and become an indispensable business partner to the goldsmiths we work with
Lead our Product discovery process from broad concepts to the final handoff to engineering
- Use customer insights, research and your market understanding to ideate and generate novel and thoughtful product solutions for our customers, goldsmith partners and colleagues
- Formulate clear product hypotheses and validate them through continuous quantitative and qualitative testing such as ab-testing, customer feedback, etc.
- Work collaboratively with all members of the Finematter founding team and ensure insights from all the different functions are captured in the product roadmap
Our tech stack (so far):
- React, Sass and Gatsby are used in our e-commerce shop.
Backend in NestJS using TypeORM and GraphQL.
- Hosted on Netlify (frontend) and Heroku (backend).
