Product Manager ( Internal Systems)

Wellcome’s digital team has grown in size, updated its skills and adopted a new approach of user-led agile development. We are working with mobile-first design and open-source platforms, and have rebuilt a number of key websites and internal systems. We are now looking to the future: in our next period of digital work, the team will become more proactive, ring-fencing significant time for discovery and R&D work, and fully committing to continuous iterative product development. All with the aim to be better placed to use new technology to meet Wellcome’s objectives.

 

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Product Manager to join our team on a permanent basis.

 

This role will involve:

  • Owning the Product road map for the on-going development of the Wellcome intranet, (Trustnet) which is the central core to how the organisation operates.
  • Being responsible for the successful integration of key internal systems (HR, Facilities, Benefits Portal, SharePoint) that use Trustnet as their front-end to provide services to staff.
  • Making sure the work of the dedicated agile product team of designers, UXers and developers delivers the strategic objectives of the business and is informed by data analytics, user research and usability testing.
  • Being the single point of contact for business stakeholders and content owners of the key internal systems on any matters related to the product and translate business requirements into a prioritised set of stories for the product team to deliver.
  • Developing tenders and managing selection process for consultancies, freelancers and agencies.
  • Managing and maintaining a budget.

 

To be successful, you will need to have:

  • Ability to carry a strategic vision and translate it into a Product road map.
  • Experience working as a product manager in an agile software development team.
  • Experience of interpreting data analytics and user research.
  • Ability to brief and collaborate successfully with external specialists, third parties and stakeholders whilst maintaining disciplined timescales and budgets.
  • Exceptional negotiation, motivation and influencing skills.
  • Flexible mind-set with capacity to comfortably absorb and communicate change.
  • Proven leadership skills and capability.
