Product manager

The legal world is ripe for disruption.  It is awash with legacy software and inefficient processes and Apperio is at the forefront of driving disruption to the market.  We are looking for an experienced product manager to join our team and help design the next generation of cloud-based software that will revolutionise how law firms are run and how lawyers communicate with their clients.

You will lead the product discovery process for new features, speaking to users to understand the jobs they do and problems they are trying to overcome.  You will have the empathy required to explore qualitative feedback as well as the intellectual rigour required to construct quantitative experiments to validate your hypotheses. You will take ownership of the product roadmap, manage the backlog and make decisions about which features we build, which features we do not build and how we communicate these features to our customers. In short, you will own the product.

An engineering background is not required, but you will be working directly with the engineering team to research, design, deliver and iterate on solutions, so a strong abstract understanding of how web services, databases, cloud infrastructure and web browsers function is helpful. You will also be comfortable working in a cross-functional agile team, collaborating directly with engineers to define the scope and prioritise features in our roadmap, and operating in a rapidly changing, startup environment.

Experience in the legal industry is a bonus but it is not required or expected; you will be able to pick up the domain knowledge very quickly. Ideally, you will have worked for a SaaS business before and delivered significant new features and products to market. This position reports directly into the CTO and you will be working with him and the CEO on a daily basis to provide input into business strategy.

Minimum qualification

  • 5+ years product management experience, including delivery of an entire product, start to finish, in a web-based environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and organisational skills.
  • Strong understanding of lean principles and user experience design.
  • Evidence of strong academic achievement.

We are based in London, about 50 yards from Holborn tube. This is a full time role, working onsite.
