Ecommerce Product Manager

TL;DR:

SPOKE is the UK’s first digitally-native menswear brand. We’re obsessed with better fit, and delivering it over a digital platform. We’ve just raised from a mix of storied VCs and inspired angels – and we’ve been going gangbusters for the past 12 months. Our site needs to catch up. We’re looking for a whip-sharp product manager to create a world-class e-commerce experience – and we’ll build a tech team around you.

Sound good? Drop us a CV and cover note here, explaining why you think you might have found what you’re looking for.

Please no agencies. Pretty please.

About SPOKE

SPOKE is the next big thing in British menswear. We’re building the UK’s first digitally-native menswear brand.

The high street lets us down. Most men don’t want to trawl a 300 piece collection for disposable fashion that changes every 12 weeks. They want a few simple things, done properly.

By selling direct to our customer, we can offer a focused edit of properly made clothes – and above all, we can deliver a flawless fit. We offer 10 times the size range off the average brand, finished to order. We’re carving out a sweet spot, somewhere between bespoke tailoring, and ready to wear. Ours is a very clever supply chain, designed by fashion industry veterans.

This is your opportunity to pair it with a world-class e-commerce experience – and to solve the problem of fit, painlessly and online.

Spoke launched in February 2014 – and we’ve grown 5 times in each of the last two years. We have tens of thousands of customers, and we’re about to crack £500k in monthly sales.

We’ve done it all with a basic site, and a simple UX – but It’s time to grow up, and to realise the untapped potential of a better storefront.

We’re in the sweet spot: we have real traction – but we’re still young enough that you’ll see your impact every day.

You’ll point to SPOKE and say ‘I did that’. And it will feel great.

The Role

As our first full time Product Manager, you’ll take the lead on managing the site, and optimising the user experience, day to day. Initially you’ll be co-ordinating a largely outsourced tech team – but increasingly you’ll be the anchor as we build that team internally, around you.

We’re looking for …

  • 3-5 years of product management or development experience. Ideally a bot of both, and some e-comm preferred. Specifically, some familiarity with the Shopify platform would be a big bonus.
  • A Scientist – you should be highly analytical, turning to data, instinctively, to inform decision making
  • An Artist – you should visually strong, and excited by great design. You’ll be comfortable and quick at visualising ideas, and discriminating in terms of design and layout.
  • A Thinker – you should be creative, adaptable, and great at improvising solutions. You need a strong understanding of UX principles, and the ability to think clearly as a user.
  • A Doer – full of initiative, can-do and epic levels of hustle. We’d like to see experience in developing, managing and delivering roadmaps and release plans, ideally in a small fast-paced company; you should have demonstrated your ability to prioritise a long product backlog, working closely with stakeholders to understand their needs.

It would also be great if you have ….

  • some coding skills (even just basic front-end HTML / CSS / JS)
  • a good understanding of agile methodologies
  • a good tech network of developers and other product manager
  • an authentic interest in menswear

We offer you …

  • A vital leadership role with real input into the success of the company and the ability to influence the path forward
  • The opportunity to be a partner to the CEO, and to help build and lead a stellar team
  • A highly competitive base salary
  • Equity options, so you have long-term incentives aligned to our growth
