Technical Product Manager

Full-Time London Salary: £60000 Closes: 2021-02-01

TECHNICAL PRODUCT MANAGER – NEWLY CREATED ROLE

ABOUT US
Boring Money has been set up to help ‘normal people’ to make better choices with their savings, investments and pensions.  Without boring them to tears on the journey!

Our readers shape our products with their feedback, ratings and reviews, helping us to build the financial lovechild of TripAdvisor and Which? We are an information business – we help consumers to make better choices; and our research, insights and data team help the industry to make better products and services.  As such we work with both consumers on our B2C side, and the industry on our B2B side.

We are a young business with 14 employees. Last year we completed a successful crowdfund, raising over 3 times our target. We also have a FTSE100 company as a shareholder. Our CEO is a serial entrepreneur and sold her first business to a media firm and exited in 2014.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a talented technical product manager with experience of running teams of developers as well as product staff to join us. You will act as a bridge between the CEO and senior leadership team, and the technical team who will deliver the vision.

The team is relatively young, creative and committed to what we do. There are no politics and we think we are creating something valuable and important which will be helpful to millions of consumers.  Everyone is hands-on and prepared to roll their sleeves up as required.

We are not looking for someone with the 9 to 5 mentality, who seeks a predicable routine. We are looking for someone who enjoys their work and who gets a kick out of building solutions which people love using.

Your key focus will be helping us to improve our website which includes comparison tables, investment product selection and (new for 2021) help selecting the best source of advice given personal circumstances.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
We have morphed from a ‘read’ site into more of a ‘do’ site, as we expand out our comparison site capabilities and launch more interactive tools and calculators. We have a lot of work to do in improving our website and customer journeys, particularly on mobile. We will be building and adding new capabilities and revising our entire website in 2021.

Boring Money also has an important B2B information and research business. We have a live project to aggregate the data we receive from multiple sources and present this back to both the business and customers in a customisable self-serve report.

We are building an information business with the consumer – our readers – providing an increasing amount of the insights, data and learnings. Our aim is to be to ‘go to’ place for industry clients who want to understand how British people are thinking and feeling about their savings, investments and pensions – as well as what they are doing, what they like and what they are planning.

2021 has an ambitious agenda to add to our comparison verticals, to revamp our entire consumer website, develop an advice service, consider an app and to deliver an aggregated data service internally and externally.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for someone with recent practical ‘hands on’ experience who can work closely with the CEO to translate the vision into reality. You will have experience of managing small teams of developers and working with product/marketing managers.

Experience in a start-up or small business is key. At our stage of growth, we are less about incremental improvements and more about getting things live and then testing them with our readers/consumers.

We are looking for someone who is a good communicator who wants to take the next step in their career, becoming more strategic and helping us to grow and evolve as a company, realising our vision in a practical and timely manner. You will be cheerful and focus on finding solutions rather than articulating problems.

You will help us to focus on our key objectives, to take the vision and translate this into requirements, to oversee build and implementation, to offer inspiration and ideas and to help us make the best website for consumers who are struggling to get some practical help and ideas on what to do with savings, investments and pensions.

We want someone to help us shine!
