Bother is a new household goods delivery service to simplify peoples’ lives. We help households across the country focus on what really matters by taking care of the boring stuff. Our model is better for the environment, better for the brands we work with and most importantly better for customers. And we’ve got lofty goals, we’re aiming to be the largest digital-first grocery destination in Europe within 10 years. To get us there we’re backed by some of the World’s pre-eminent seed investors and are advised by a panel that includes the founding partners of Deliveroo, Thread, Gym Shark and The Hut Group.

The job of Tech at Bother is to deliver a brilliant customer experience through our web and mobile channels. As a team we’ve learned how to craft software by working at some of the best tech orgs around: Amazon, Deliveroo, Tesco and top tier agencies. Now we’ve come together to build a new service that is simple, elegant, reliable and scalable. We always strive to work on the most impactful thing first and use data to drive our decisions and measure our impact.

Part of the wider tech group, the product team is tiny at the moment, with just Michelle (www.linkedin.com/in/michelledemott) we are looking to grow the product team so we can simplify our customers’ lives building them a product that they love and cannot be without.

What’s the job?
As our second product hire you will be able to shape the product from day one. We’ve got lots of ideas and having you on board will help us identify the value of these and turn them into tangible experiences for our customers. To do this we need you to hit the ground running.

You will lead product discovery phases – hosting workshops to understand the real challenges and define what needs to be solved and why. You love to host these and post-it notes and sharpies are a staple in your product tool kit!
You’ll be ensuring our customers’ needs are always at the heart of what we’re building. Working with our users directly and talking to them frequently. Nothing will ever get past you without thinking of the customer.
You’ll define which outcomes we need to prioritise and set realistic timelines to hit those goals and be able to balance these with business and technology viability.
You will build the foundations needed for a great relationship with our developers – a clear and concise backlog. You will make sure that when we commit to building something for our customers, we can do it in an efficient way. You will lead all core activities such as backlog refinement, grooming and writing user stories.
Identify clear, measurable metrics to track the impacts of change on product performance and customer and business goals.

What are we looking for?
You are relentless getting to the heart of the problem trying to be solved, focusing on outcomes and not solutions.
You’ve been working in Product for 4+ years and you thrive on talking to customers and then working with the business and technology to build something exciting.
You’ve worked end to end in eCommerce in an environment small enough to give you full exposure. You understand the whole customer journey and are able to work independently on improving our experience at any stage from acquisition through to fulfilment.
Strong communication skills with the ability to advise, influence, persuade and prioritise.
A secret geek at heart knowing enough about APIs and Web Services to have technical conversations and get the detail needed to be ‘sprint ready’.
You need to own the backlog and be a Jira magician. You will be the go-to person for the business to understand what is being built now and in the future.
Ambitious and driven to muck in and build a new company. Happy to juggle many balls / wear many hats to get there.
If you’ve worked on a Mobile App before, that’s a bonus.

What can you expect from us?
A job that can grow as quickly as you can. We’re doubling tech headcount in next 6 months and this is only the start.
The tools, resources and support you need to succeed and grow.
No one’s an island. We’re all here to help each other when we need it and we strive for psychological safety. Hopefully, we can teach you some stuff and we’re excited to find out what you can teach us too.
A grown-up and thoughtful company culture. We focus on customer outcomes first and foremost.
