About the Opportunity

We’re looking for a Lead Product Manager of Impact to drive our technical strategy for the companies that are committed to improving their business practices by making an incremental impact today. You’ll determine the long- and short-term product roadmap for our Impact Management tools as well as continue to explore, experiment, and innovate on new ways for our technology team to amplify our global impact management user journey. We have some technical debt we need to work through: we want some help assessing the existing landscape and architecture of digital tools we run and license today to determine which tools we want to expand upon, which tools we should maintain/improve, and which tools to deprecate.

Our Product practice is new and will continue to evolve over time. This Lead Product Manager of Impact will also lead and coach a team of associate product managers and designers who will work on Impact Management and tangential teams related to the Certification user journey through the B Impact Assessment (BIA). We are learning and applying current product management techniques and loving it – and we want more! We’re looking for a Lead Product Manager who will be excited to guide us in our transformation journey by:

  • helping us stay aligned on product portfolio-level outcomes related to user-centered goals and pain points;
  • recommending software features that will achieve those outcomes;
  • driving our teams through research, discovery, solution framing, and release management;
  • enabling our product managers and designers to drive progress on their own teams by upskilling them in one-on-one mentorship, facilitating group discussions about product concepts, and leading educational workshops to coach new skills.

The Lead Product Manager of Impact, reports to Juan Pablo Larenas and will manage a team of 5 people, with the potential for the team to grow in 2022.

Scope of Work

Functional responsibilities and tasks for the Lead Product Manager of Impact include:

  • Product & team strategy: Clearly prioritize realistic future development strategies and corresponding success metrics, using inputs of business needs/outcomes, user pain points, adjacent team strategies and technical debt
  • Prepare incoming work: Work alongside product team members to execute and synthesize research and findings into product insights, translate designs and features into granular user stories in the backlog ready for development
  • Manage in-progress work: Attend team standups, answer engineering questions, meet and work with program management and Global Partner stakeholders to unblock development – reporting any new issues for visibility and resolution
  • Solidify completed work: Verify & accept newly delivered work with acceptance testing, align with brand/marketing and content strategy for release notes and communications, encourage the team to celebrate wins, and update stakeholders as necessary
  • Manage a team of cross-discipline product team individuals: including Product Managers and Designers

About You

We encourage you to apply if you can demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • Critical problem-solving
  • Strong outcome-based prioritization and roadmapping
  • User research: interview planning, execution, and synthesis
  • User-centered design (UCD) techniques: prototyping, usability testing
  • Backlog management and user story writing
  • Acceptance criteria and testing

For success in this role, the ideal candidate will consider themselves:

  • A mentor, a coach, an empathetic listener
  • A data-driven decision-maker
  • Comfortable switching contexts
  • A proactive collaborator

Please note in your application if you have experience with:

  • Outcome-driven product management for complex international applications with many user personas, journeys, stakeholders, and data analysis/implementations
  • Greenfield or brownfield development
  • B Lab Tools: G Suite, Salesforce, Slack, remote collaboration
  • Marketing websites (Wordpress, Drupal, Contentful, or equivalent CMS)
  • Developing internal employee tools vs. external customer-facing tools
