Over the next three years we’re investing heavily in digital. We recently announced our plan to open an IT technology hub in Warsaw to work with our Bristol teams modernising existing tools and services while delivering the new, innovative products, ensuring Hargreaves Lansdown remains the clear market leader in its sector.

Furthermore, in February we launched a new, award-winning mobile app and are dedicated to continually developing this increasingly core platform. We are also bringing new and innovative investment products to the market in Active Savings, our cash deposit service, and our peer-to-peer platform.

The Role

The recently established team of Digital Product Managers exist at the centre of each of these and all other digital initiatives. Each manager is responsible for a particular set of user journeys across our website and mobile applications. They are tasked with understanding the performance of their products versus business goals, the needs of the end user and how to use technology to deliver both. The Digital Product Manager forms the keystone between Marketing, Client Insight, UX Design and IT Development.

As part of the role you will receive market-leading training and development and have the opportunity to work collaboratively with subject matter experts across the business. Our ambition is to have the most effective Product Management team possible and will ensure the best training is available to achieve this goal.

Key Duties And Responsibilities:

Responsible for a set of key digital user journeys and/or digital platforms

Collaborate with business owners who share a common interest, plus Design and UX, IT Change and IT development

Become a point of authority for a product; understand and measure its performance, constantly identify and deliver opportunities to improve and measure uplift

Collate and interpret client feedback through key touch points, analytics and focus groups/surveys

Produce clear and concise business cases and cost/benefit analyses

Conduct competitor analysis to understand our position in the market relative to your products, ensuring we remain ahead of the competition

Understand the technology market and think innovatively to find the ‘next big thing’ to impact your products, reporting to senior leaders on the opportunities, risks and applications

Represent digital on other projects driven by other areas of the business as required
Requirements

We are looking for a candidate who can bring real experience the team. You will work or have worked in a Product Manager / Owner role (or similar), and have a keen commercial mind, understanding performance and KPIs, alongside the creativity and ability to improve the user experience and deliver innovation. You will bring experience of processes such as journey mapping, pain point identification, ideation and user testing. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, constantly looking for ways to improve their products to optimise journeys, tackle pain points and drive up their KPIs. In addition, you will represent digital on other projects arising from other areas of the business as necessary, delivering to the utmost quality.

Essential Qualifications and Attributes:

Educated to AS / A-level or equivalent

Understanding of what makes a good client or user experience

2 years’ experience in a product ownership role or similar within a digital environment
Commercially aware, with good understanding of how to establish, measure and report against business goals

Strategically-minded, able to plan long term direction of travel for a given product

Experience of product management processes including journey mapping, pain point identification, ideation and user testing

Solid knowledge and experience working with IT development, business managers and user experience and design teams

Understanding of principles and importance of a good user experience

Able to find simple solutions to complex problems, always thinking in the mind of the user

Ability to make effective decisions, manage stakeholders and control a product and project’s direction whilst handling conflicting opinions

Ability to build effective relationships at all business levels and communicate clearly

Eye for detail and a willingness to go the extra mile to achieve best possible results

Able to manage multiple tasks and perform under pressure against tight deadlines and targets

Passionate about innovative technology and its application to solve user needs in new ways

Driven to succeed, tenacious and focussed on outstanding delivery

Demonstrable passion for the discipline of Product Management

Desirable Qualifications and Attributes:

Educated to degree level or equivalent
Good technical knowledge of digital platforms
Good experience of digital across web and mobile

Confidence to run workshops to share knowledge and experience with colleagues from product team

Creatively-minded and comfortable producing low-fi wireframes to ideate and share ideas quickly and clearly
