Product Owner – HR

We’re Ocado Technology. We design and build the systems and technology that power ocado.com, the world’s largest online-only grocery retailer and groceries.morrisons.com, the world’s fastest growing online supermarket!

In a nutshell
As Product Owner for HR you will get to look after the employee management suite of systems that were all written in-house to fit with the processes and requirements identified within the HR department. The HR department includes the Learning & Development team, Engagement & Communications team, Shared Services team, Recruitment team, and HR business partners across the company. You will work with these teams and the HR leadership team to maintain roadmaps for your products, prioritise these roadmaps, and elicit requirements rather than predefined solutions.

The suite of systems cover the full lifecycle of an employee. This starts right from the applicant viewing jobs on the ocado.jobs site, the recruitment system used to manage applications, the HR system used to record an employee’s career details, the internal intranet to allow employees to share information.

How will you spend your days?
You will be a member of several development teams ranging between 4 and 7 developers that all follow similar scrumban processes. These teams are knowledgeable in their domains and will engage in productive discussions about requirements and their potential solutions. You’ll attend demos, retrospectives, sprint planning sessions and all that other good agile stuff you should expect from top performing teams.

Finally, you will share any new features with the business, track how successful the new feature is, and gather feedback for the development teams so you can learn from how the feature was received by the business.

This is a great role, working with wonderful, caring stakeholders, and highly skilled and motivated development teams, where you get to see your work having a positive impact across the whole of the business.

How to stand out?

  • Demonstrable experience of working in an agile scrum environment, ideally as a PO, but possibly as an agile coach or a similar role.
  • An analytic mindset.
  • An understanding and appreciation of software development and design.

What can we offer you?

Technically stretching work is a given. We want you to push technological boundaries and create solutions to problems people haven’t even thought about yet; so we’ll give you the freedom and the tools and the playful, stimulating working environment you need to do what’s never been done before. While red tape’s conspicuous by its absence, rewards are plentiful: as well as a competitive salary and share schemes, benefits include pension scheme, interest-free season ticket loan, free shuttle bus from Hatfield train station and, of course, a healthy 15% Ocado staff discount (and free delivery). We also have Friday socials on the first Friday of every month, sports clubs such as badminton, running and table tennis (and many more) not to mention our frequently used football table.
