Product Managers/Senior Product Managers

Contract UK. Initially remote, but up to 8 days/month in the office. Salary: Inside IR35, competitive rates.

Senior Product Manager – Exporting Goods

You’ll be responsible for leading the team rebuilding white-label service https://www.gov.uk/check-duties-customs-exporting in-house, to better meet the needs we’ve discovered during the recent Alpha. This role is critical to ensuring businesses understand trading processes with EU countries and prepare accordingly; it is also important for them when taking advantage of the UK’s new FTAs. The content and data in the current service thoroughly covers 160 markets, but could be more user-friendly for critical content, and better organised around user tasks. This role will also work out how best to integrate a separate service that publishes known trade barriers (https://www.check-international-trade-barriers.service.gov.uk/) and start shaping their backlog for a dedicated PM. This role’s financial impact for UK businesses could be vast.

Senior Product Manager – Data Workspace

Working closely with the Platform Lead, you’ll be managing a team of data architects, developers and more to improve our use of shared data across GREAT, CRM and other trade-related services. You’ll be prioritising needs ranging from new data pipelines to visualisations; you’ll also be improving our existing use of third party data sets to ensure we are continually increasing data quality and value for money.

The successful candidate would ideally have some experience of working with complex data sets, but this role provides a fabulous opportunity for you to grow your skills in a supportive environment and to learn from our Chief Data Officer.

Product Manager – CRM

Working on our internal CRM tool Data Hub, you’ll be supporting the Platform Lead in improving the tooling for our workforce to better handle enquiries about ‘Investment’ projects and turn them into successful deals. ‘Investment’ covers a) helping overseas businesses set up in the UK, b) getting institutional funding for major infrastructure projects, c) helping overseas investors discover startups that are important to the UK’s economic strategy. Tens of thousands of UK jobs can be attributed to this work, so it’s vital we build the right features for the right users at the right time. You’ll be leading one of three teams working on this platform.

Product Manager – Trade Remedies

Where UK businesses believe that they are being harmed by unfair trading practices or unforeseen surges in imports, they can ask the Trade Remedies Authority to investigate. The TRA can then impose additional duties, to ensure there is a level playing-field for UK industries.

You’ll be working with the TRA stakeholders to develop, prioritise and deliver the backlog for the systems they need to manage these requests. You will be scoping a dedicated team in conjunction with the TRA, the Trading Environment Portfolio’s Service Owner and our Heads of Profession. In the short term you will deliver the most critical changes using shared developers/designers.

All four contracts are initially for four months, at competitive rates. Please send a CV and your rate expectations to miranda.pottinger@trade.gov.uk. No agencies I’m afraid – it’s complicated.
