DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
All 4 is Channel 4’s video-on-demand proposition, home to original and exclusive shows, box sets of iconic series, as well as live and catch-up TV from C4’s broadcast channels.
Available as an app on over 20 different platforms including mobiles, tablets, PCs, smart TVs, and games consoles, as well as being syndicated to the likes of Sky and Virgin, All 4 reaches 3.5 million weekly viewers and has more than two-thirds of all 16-34s in the UK as registered users.
The All 4 Product team is responsible for creating the best possible user experience on owned-and-operated platforms, one that is both seamless and engaging, and that encourages visitors to become viewers, to view more, and to return more often.
JOB PURPOSE
Product managers are responsible for prioritising solutions that are valuable and viable. They collaborate with technology teams and other teams in the product department to solve problems for customers and the business, and to create clear narrative about what we are doing next, what we will not do, and why.
All 4 product managers handle product management of a specific platform or platforms as well as leading on cross-platform developments. They define what we will do next with the product, what measurable effect it will have, and why it is the most valuable thing to do.
This role will involve setting up a roadmap, managing the backlog, requirements, and prioritisation, overseeing the user experience and design process, and being the main point of contact for development teams and various stakeholders across the organisation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with the Head of Product and the rest of the product team to set up a vision and roadmap to create and sustain a fantastic “big screen” user experience and meet the key outcomes for All 4.
Work with senior product management and take the lead on big screen focused product development over 9 Platforms (Samsung, Roku, Chromecast, Playstation, Xbox, Amazon Fire, Youview, Freeview and Virgin) – from finding opportunities (working closely with the other All 4 product managers, UX, insight and analytics), developing and testing concepts (working with product designers) through to development and delivery (working with the the big screen devices team, All 4 product programme manager as well as other individual development teams ).
Make full use of analytics, research, and customer insight to inform decision making and actively engage in regular user testing and MVTs (Multi Variate Tests).
Collaborate closely with the All 4 Product Programme Manager to ensure all development candidates follow the proper discovery and prioritisation processes – thereby ensuring sufficient and prompt problem solving engagement by the right people from across all platforms.
Prioritize and manage the big screen platform product backlogs (Shared HTML5 codebase, Roku and Chromecast). Ensure product quality during UAT.
Ensure continual communication with key stakeholders across the business, building empathy with their requirements while supplying transparency and explanation of product management decisions.
Share updates and developments with key stakeholders and other teams across Channel 4, including roadmap presentation and demos of new product functionality.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Technical & Professional Skills
Product management experience in consumer-facing digital products.
Knowledge and experience of agile software development and experience design methodologies.
Ability to make use of all forms of customer research and analytics in the product development process.
Experience of collaborating across organisational boundaries using a range of techniques and styles to bring about desired outcomes.
An understanding of the online video market, audience trends, and competitive landscape.
Decision Making
Ability to approach problems from a customer point of view and use evidence to assess the plausibility of solutions.
Able to relate individual product initiatives to value levers and high-level outcomes, making this clear to development teams and stakeholders alike.
Can work independently and make quick decisions with imperfect or incomplete data, while showing good judgment on when to escalate.
Relationship Management
A first-class collaborator, able to work closely with colleagues from any team or discipline and to flex their own role to suit a given situation.
Experience with stakeholder management, showing an ability to remain calm and neutral while managing conflict and using evidence-based arguments to resolve disputes.

Comfortable working with external agencies and suppliers on product development, proofs of concept, testing and research.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Experience in consumer-facing connected TV, set top box, streaming device or console applications
Experience releasing digital products across multiple platforms
Knowledge of the UK Digital TV landscape
