The Role / Position Overview
Business Analysts at the Financial Times (FT) are central to the change programmes that support our continued growth as one of the world’s leading business news and information organisations.
We are looking for 2 permanent Business Analysts to join our Customer Products team, supporting the product strategy for ft.com. Customer Products is accountable for building and optimising customer facing features and products, with a focus on creating the best possible customer experience. The Business Analysts within this programme work closely with Product and Engineering teams as well as business stakeholders, to deliver on the product strategy to acquire new subscribers and retain existing ones.
As a Business Analyst at the FT, you will relish the challenge to develop new products and features that our customers will value. Your skills in analysis and communication will help engineers build the best solutions, and your ability to coordinate dependencies with other teams and eye for detail will be crucial to the success of the projects.

Business Analysts at the FT typically have at least 3 years’ experience, but if not you no doubt have a wealth of expertise in a number of areas below.
This role could be for you if:
Your stakeholders love you. You build effective working relationships and mediate in meetings and discussions to accommodate different personalities.
You’re able to rapidly understand new concepts and business areas, as well as the fundamentals of underpinning technologies.
You can communicate complexity and distill detail into clearly understandable concepts, no matter the audience.
You flourish when balancing appropriate levels of detail and shifting priorities whilst keeping an eye on outcomes, strategy and scope.
You’re an effective devil’s advocate, constructively and impartially questioning the status quo.
You have:
The ability to translate business wants into needs, outputs and ultimately business value within a technology-led environment.
A wide variety of analysis and problem solving techniques to call upon.
Experience of conducting analysis in an Agile environment. You might have a background in Lean, Scrum, Kanban, UX, Anarchy, or a mix of all of the above.
Experience of working with Product Owners and stakeholders from senior- level management to end-users.
A knack for understanding, documenting and assessing business and system processes.
You might also have:
Experience working on customer facing products that need carefully thought out user journeys.
Experience coordinating requirements that have dependencies on other teams
Experience in using data and metrics to assess the value of requirements or change requests.
