Technical Product Manager

As our Technical Product Manager will play a crucial part in the delivery of excellent digital products, reporting to the Head of Product & UX within our Digital Experience team. Specifically – the role will drive the service offerings, requirements, adoption and collaboration for the End User Experience (EUx) team in our Service Operations department in ASOS Tech. The technology service offerings along with the necessary processes and mechanisms to advocate and deploy our Tech to our End Users (both our internal employees and third party customers that use our services) are key to delivering the capabilities as well as the customer centric elements of our End User Experience (EUx) proposition.

 

What you’ll be doing…
Responsible for the full life cycle of your products; leading the ideation, validation, technical development, launch and continuous improvement.
This role will sit within Product team, with a dotted line into the End User Experience (EUx) team in Service Operations. Own the strategy, roadmap, backlog and documentation. (though EUx architecture and solution ownership remains in the EUx team)
Own multi discipline product roadmaps, managing dependencies and leveraging functionality or knowledge from other products and programmes across ASOS, both business and tech alike.
Represent the customer (our internal users) while partnering with the business and technology to break complex problems down into achievable initiatives.
Work collaboratively to establish a shared vision across the company, coordinate consensus on priorities and communicate the ongoing product development journey to stakeholders.
Use customer insight and analytics to validate customer problems and solutions throughout the product development process.
Govern the product backlog and communicate release / service introduction plans.
Work with the EUx team on the derivation of key KPIs for success and with the dedicated Programme Manager in the team on forecasting ROI.
Construct and lead on a core focus group comprising of key stakeholders across ASOS to constantly improve the internal customer experience, additional requirements and shaping future offerings; using creative means to bring innovative products and services to test and validate with our customers.
Liaise with the core focus group to ensure all customer specific requirements are captured, product launches and service offerings are well considered, and phased according to priorities.
Participate in RFP and SOW processes with partners, ensuring full product requirements, their dependencies and priorities have been captured effectively, and the right partner and teams are being engaged.

A strong understanding of the technical architecture of key customer tech journeys across ASOS particularly for those areas that have a heavy reliance on Tech to drive the underlying 2020 vision in ASOS.
Exceptional communicator; skilled at producing and presenting concise and informative presentations demonstrating vision, progress, and plan for execution to senior management and executive level.
Quick to gain a thorough understanding of the competitive landscape; ability to recognise game changing innovations and introduce relevant products to the ASOS Tech offering for our customers.
Comfortably move between strategic visioning and the detail, being the authority in all aspects of your product area.
Highly organized, pragmatic decision maker. Resolves conflicts by making use of your analytical mind and creative problem solving skills.
Confident in your approach to challenges, tackling resolutions with a positive and proactive mindset; proficient in working independently and multi-tasking.
An innate sense of what makes a successful end-user experience.
Results focused, with excellent interpersonal skills to keep people energised, positive and focused on delivering value
Appreciation for product development by persona / customization of a common product stack where customers use it for a variety of purposes
Willing to do Product Ownership (PO) role in conjunction with Product Management, with the understanding of phasing out PO elements as we scale up team.
Experience working in Product Management or Product Design.
BA/BS in computer science, software engineering or equivalent practical experience.
Certified Scrum Product Owner or proven experience in mature Agile environments.
Demonstrable experience of bringing products to market and the management of full end to end product development process.
Demonstrable ability to achieve stretch goals in an innovative and fast paced environment.
Experience in contributing to business cases, ROI creation and budget management.
Experience in line management and mentoring; and a track record demonstrating multi discipline/department management.
