Job Description:
The Product Manager is responsible for the strategic vision and management of assigned products or product line(s), working closely with the development group and other product managers to develop and grow the product strategy. The Product Manager acts as the product champion and ensures that the product supports the company’s overall strategy and that stakeholders see the potential of the product.Built upon experience and knowledge gained as a business analyst, the Product Manager is responsible for the product planning and execution throughout the product life cycle, including: gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with management, UX designers, software engineers, stakeholders, and users to continually develop the product. The Senior Product Manager helps supervise, mentor, and develop technical skills of Staff Product Managers and Business Analysts, and works under the coaching and mentoring of Consultant Product Managers.

This Product Manager plays a critical role in leading a multi-disciplinary product team throughout all stages of the product lifecycle. They work effectively in an agile team environment that is focused on delivering customer-centric solutions aligned to Intermountain’s strategy, business goals, and timelines. The ideal candidate will be confident, assertive, proactive, self-motivated, and possess strong communication skills (both written and verbal). They work with business and technical stakeholders at all levels within the organization and with outside contractors, agencies, and partners. They must be comfortable leading in a fast-paced and empowered-team environment.
The Product Manager ensures that the vision of each product feature aligns with consumer feedback and Intermountain’s overall strategy. They identify opportunities through various internal/external stakeholder discussions, testing, and other data analysis activities. They then partner closely with Engineers and Designers to develop solutions that solve consumer-facing problems while driving business results. The Product Manager leads the execution of the development of product features by serving as the Product Owner in the Agile SCRUM process.
Scope
The Product Manager reports to a Director of Product Management on the Consumer Digital Solutions team. The Product Manager leads the work of a full-stack software development team to ensure that they team is building the right products/features. The Product Manager may be assisted by one or more Business Analysts in performing his/her responsibilities. The Product Manager provides vision, mentorship, and leadership to others on the team. The successful candidate must work on multiple, simultaneous and detailed projects with minimal oversight and direction.
Job Essentials
1. Establishes a shared product vision across the team and company and champions the product vision throughout the organization.
2. Identifies how a product can best be used to accomplish strategic company objectives.
3. Analyzes the marketplace, customers, and competitors to determine the right features to develop along with overall feature prioritization. Acts as an expert with respect to the competition.
4. Recommends continual product improvements and enhancements based on ongoing customer research and feedback, site usage and performance, and competitive analysis.
5. Leads and participates in user group meetings for gathering feedback for product development, product usability, and new product opportunities.
6. Develops detailed product requirements and launch plans. Oversees the execution of these plans.
7. Facilitates and manages business requests, set proper stakeholder and user expectations.
8. Acts as a subject matter expert, resource and leader with development teams. Facilitates the product development cycles by establishing credibility, interacting and communicating with cross-functional teams involved in the product development process.
9. Monitors progress of the product through the product development life cycle, identifying risks and opportunities, keeping management informed.
10. Serves as a mentor and teacher of best practices for usability, information architecture, and content strategy.
11. Independently manages multiple simultaneous large and small projects, tasks assignments, and deadlines.
12. Mentors, helps supervise, and develops skills of Staff Product Managers and Business Analysts.
13. Consistently and proactively researches new methods, usability, and best practices of product(s) to proactively develop solutions that enhance the user experience.
14. Acquires and maintains an in-depth understanding of the technical and functional architecture of the product. Communicates with stakeholders by demonstrating effective documentation skills with ability to articulate technical information and effective organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
15. Provides content and context to others relating to the products and projects by demonstrating an expert level knowledge of Design, Development, Quality Assurance, Usability, and Training disciplines.
16. Influences cross-functional teams without formal authority, develops and maintains strong relationships with business sponsors, stakeholders, and end users.
17. Defines product requirements and launches successful products on schedule. Defines success metrics and reporting needs to monitor post-launch performance to measure product effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
18. Manages expectations through excellent communication and customer relationships and keeps others informed and updated on priorities, current tasks and work completed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an information technology field or four years of equivalent information technology, clinical, or healthcare insurance experience. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified. OR four or more years of information systems, business administration, or clinical information system experience.
Five years of experience working as a product manager in an enterprise software environment.
