Summary
We are looking for an experienced Product Owner to translate the requirements of the customer/ user into requirements that the development team can work from. You will work closely with Product Managers to understand user needs, identify the highest priority requirements, and translate these into tangible deliverables. You’ll ensure the product offers a strong value proposition to customers and users and that it creates the desired business benefits. You will work closely as part of an engineering squad to plan, prioritise and deliver the product, and will be the key liaison between the squad and the wider business.
Purpose
Glean is growing rapidly and a key component of that is the scaling of our Product Management team, ensuring that we not only deliver products efficiently but that we are continually learning through discovery work about our customers, users and the wider market. This role is a critical addition to the team, which is using a dual track development approach through externally facing Product Managers, who are focussed on discovery work, and internally facing Product Owners, who will own the build track, with collaboration throughout. This role provides a great opportunity to not only be a part of Glean’s growth journey, but to help continually develop good working practises within the engineering squad through requirements management and establishing great product management practises.
Area of responsibility
Serve as the product ambassador internally, working closely with Product Managers to continuously understand and communicate the customer’s needs and ensure development squad deliverables are aligned with Glean’s Product Strategy.
Collaborate with the Product Manager, Engineering Tech Leads and Designers, to develop product feature specifications and ensure they are understood by the development teams.
Assess value, develop use cases, and prioritise stories, epics and themes to ensure work aligns with Product Strategy.
Ensure that stories meet user requirements without scope creep – be a strong advocate for when to deliver value and learn against striving for perfection.
Plan and prioritise product feature backlog and development for the product, working closely with the development squad to establish achievable increments of work, balancing the need for delivery with the drive to maintain high levels of quality and improvement of the product codebase.
Work closely with the Product Marketing Manager to set expectations for delivery of new functionality and help develop internal and customer communications where necessary.
Be responsible for the delivery of increments/sprints and communicating and reporting on progress towards goals to internal stakeholders.
Your experience
Essential:
Worked as a Product Owner, Business Analyst and/or Product Manager with a development team using Agile development approaches.
Worked closely with a wider Product Management team to align squad deliverables with a wider Product Strategy.
Experience taking an idea from concept through to delivery and continual improvement.
Comfortable with holding accountability for Product delivery from the squad and reporting progress to stakeholders.
Experienced in running Agile ceremonies (planning, reviews, standups), showcasing Products to internal stakeholders and improving the ways of working of teams.
Excellent communication and influencing skills. You’ll be the voice of the customer, championing the highest value features for the product.
Desirable:
Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), or the ability to demonstrate similar knowledge.
