Line Manager: Digital Director & Head of Tech
Dazed Media is an independent media group renowned for producing award winning stories across its industry leading print, digital and video brands. The company’s newest division, Dazed Studio creates innovative brand campaigns across the luxury and lifestyle sectors. The Product Manager (Commercial) is a key role which will help drive significant revenue by ensuring the optimal performance of our revenue-generating digital products and services, particularly related to our Studio, on-site advertising and Dazed Club membership offering. Working with the business, marketing and technology teams, this person will help ensure that the user experience is optimal for our clients as they run their campaigns, and also for the audiences for whom the client’s content is most relevant.
This individual should be comfortable taking responsibility for the output of teams – they will need to liaise with multiple stakeholders as well as work with in-house and external development teams. The work will range from discovery to testing, optimisation, and innovation around new features – as well as working with project managers to ensure the digital impact of any campaign is maximised.
The PM will need to be able to prioritise and keep projects on track, with excellent communication skills to enable working with stakeholders and commercial and editorial teams as well as with the development team.
To excel in this role, the individual should have a passion for creating impactful digital experiences for an 18-30 audience in the fashion, arts, culture and creative technology space. They should have experience in digital product management processes.
Duties, Responsibilities & Deliverables:
You will manage the product roadmap for our commercial products. It’s crucial that we are researching and testing with both our clients and audience, to ensure the product iterates to best serve their needs and deliver great value to clients.
You will work closely with the editorial, commercial and marketing teams to ensure business goals and objectives are aligned.
You will manage your product backlog in line with the business objectives, and ensure the team delivery is aligned to these goals, through prioritisation and clear communication of the intended outcomes to the team
You will work with the Dazed Club membership team to iterate this nascent product to build an audience of paying members
You will ensure that all developments have a clear data driven rationale and agreed success metrics which are shared widely
You will work closely with the Head of Technology to look for opportunities to create repeatable and scalable features which can be used in multiple ways and for multiple clients
You will lead a discovery process to establish commercial partner needs and the problems they want solving, using this insight to help develop new product propositions which can be prototyped and tested with a view to enhancing Dazed Media’s commercial offering
You will seek to unlock the potential within a Dazed Media product, idea or strength to turn it into a commercial opportunity and match it to the right client
Desired Skills & Experience
Digital product management experience
Experience of digital revenue-generating products
Ability to seamlessly shift between working with developers and commercial teams and senior stakeholders in the business
Excellent communication skills and an ability to understand complex issues and translate them for different audiences
Experience in a media business is desirable
Passion for fashion, arts, culture and creative technology
You will be a friendly, diplomatic and collaborative approach to the people you work with
Passion for solid user-experience; building products around user need & evidence-led requirements gathering, analysis & problem-solving
You will be passionate about delivering effective commercial solutions for clients and have a natural enthusiasm for monetising media and creativity
Be adaptable, a fast learner and good team player
