Overview:
TMB (Trusted Media Brands) is looking for an experienced product leader to join our team. The Director of Product, User Data & Engagement, will support complex product development and management for TMB, using data to inform the roadmaps for the infrastructure and scalability of our authentication and first-party data collection platforms and the cultivation of user engagement to drive user/subscriber acquisition and retention. The position will collaborate with our Consumer Marketing and Editorial teams on conversion, retention, and user/subscriber engagement.
Description:
As Director of Product, you will have a proven record of launching and managing products for digital publishers and will lead strategy, execution, and delivery. You will collaborate with key business stakeholders and across product teams to define and implement best practices for product development that support rapid experimentation, data-informed user segmentation and product decisions, and delivering business value.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic direction and oversight for the discovery, definition, design, and delivery of products that engage TMB cross-platform users and move them down a funnel to conversion – subscribing to a newsletter or magazine, buying a DTC or affiliate product or any new paid/subscription/membership product we launch
- Develop and own roadmaps for first party data product strategies and drive product execution that promotes customer and first-party data acquisition and user retention across our digital offerings
- Lead, motivate and support a team of product managers responsible for the consumer paid/subscription product portfolio (email, DTC, and new ones yet to emerge), logged in user experience, and the collection and application of first-party user data
- Work with Editorial to create content and experiences that deepen user engagement, drive first-party data collection, and increase revenue
- Co-own overall metrics around product usage and funnels for customer acquisition with the Consumer Marketing team and partner with the Data Science team to derive insights from site and user data to identify areas of opportunity
- Maintain a shared roadmap with the Consumer Marketing and Data Science teams
- Leverage data-driven insights to develop a deep understanding of users and audience segmentation strategies
- Prioritize, identify, and execute opportunities for the collection of first-party data for TMB site and OTT users and subscribers
- Conduct customer research, quantitative analysis, and usability testing, driving rapid iteration and instill best practices for developing valuable and productive user experiences
- Equip the Chief Product Officer with insights on strategy, product usage/performance, competitive analysis, and product roadmaps to be communicated to executive management
- Collaborate with engineering managers and the UX and product design team to establish repeatable, scalable, and adaptable processes
- Be a strong leader and compassionate, positive team member, partnering with cross-functional teams across the company to get things done
Qualifications:
- 8-10 years of experience building and shipping consumer-facing products, ideally for digital publishers
- Minimum 3 years of people management experience
- Experience translating strategy and research into a clear vision and roadmap for delivery
- Shines when working with cross-functional teams and bringing stakeholders together in decision-making
- Experience leveraging analytical inputs to create well-rounded and sustainable solutions
- Track-record of operating at a high strategic level, while also being able to quickly drill down into the particulars of technology and customer needs
- Positive, strategic approach to problem solving and to building relationships within the team and across the company
- Exceptional communicator with the ability to work collaboratively and engage, influence, and inspire collaborators, stakeholders, and executives to drive strategic alignment and positive outcomes
- Balance of technical knowledge and business acumen
- A detailed understanding of current front and back-end web technologies
