Bol.com is changing retail ‘on the fly’, in close cooperation with ~48.000 partners who do business on our retail tech platform. Working with business partners at scale presents unique challenges. For lack of textbooks on the topic, and with only a limited number of peers we can look to, we’ve learned to meet these challenges as we go along. But what do partners need to speed up their growth? And how can we help them effortlessly scale their business? Part of the solution lies in the quality of our platform tooling and systems. The more ‘natural’ doing business feels, the better. Can you lead a dedicated multidisciplinary product team on their continuous, partner-driven journey of improvement?
What you do as Senior Product Manager Platform
As Senior Product Manager Platform, you’ll land in an organization with approximately 35 multidisciplinary product teams, divided into 7 product areas. Each team contributes to (1) making our partners more successful and (2) promoting bol.com as the logical launching point for shopping. You and your team focus on evolving one or more platform-related product(s) that make bol.com more scalable, engaging and attractive for customers and partners alike. Given the playing field, you need to be tech-minded and feel comfortable in an Agile setting. You also need to master the art of prioritizing, have a talent for navigating dynamic environments with grace, and to be able to quickly adapt to evolving partner requirements, e.g., by adjusting the product’s course.
This role requires a data mindset to pinpoint the root and cause of any issue and to figure out what really deserves the focus of your team. You have to perceive how information and data are interconnected. What does the data say? What are business partners telling you? What are the most promising solutions? And how can you convince others of the validity and added value of your proposals? Partner success takes a team effort! We also expect you to be extraordinarily inquisitive and eager to investigate. For example, by diving into the data. Or by asking as many follow-up questions as it takes to get the job done. Your talent for connecting and inspiring stakeholders will serve you well. As will your ability to organize, because at bol.com, the ideas fly fast and furious.
