BBC Maestro is a venture funded start-up, working in close collaboration with BBC Studios, on a mission to revolutionise the way we fuel our creative dreams and ambitions.
We offer educational and inspirational video courses taught by the world’s most experienced creators, each one a Maestro in their field, including: Mark Ronson, Edgar Wright, Julia Donaldson, Alan Moore, Marco Pierre-White, David Walliams, Gary Barlow, Jed Mercurio, and many more.
Following a fantastically successful 18 months, we are now aiming to quickly scale our offering through new celebrity talent, new technology, and new team members.
We’re looking for a Chief Product Officer to lead the expansion of our service offering; optimising market fit, developing new market leading product features, and building out new product offerings.
About the role
This is an incredibly exciting time for the business and product, with a solid and well performing responsive web platform providing a strong foundation for the CPO to define and own the roadmap for scaling the service, reaching new customers, experimenting with new offerings, and becoming a truly market leading streaming education service offering.
You’ll work across plans and initiatives for future expansion including;
Mobile and TV Apps
New interfaces for our video player, library and course notes
Features that help people learn through technology
New business offerings
How we work
We’re a collaborative and creative company, and you’ll work closely with senior leadership and teams across the business, develop an inside out knowledge of our customers, and lead and own plans for the development of the service. You’ll work closely with the CTO and our product and engineering teams to develop these plans, who work in an agile way using the scrum framework.
About you
We’re looking for a highly motivated individual with good combination of strategic, analytical, and creative skills who can build and lead a product development culture in the business.
Here are some requirements for the role:
Essential
A proven track record of strong and profitable product leadership, with work as a Product Lead/Product Owner for at least 5 years and/or Senior Project Manager for 10 years.
Experience in the media and content sector, with a strong understanding of content driven business.
A strong and demonstrable understanding of product analytics and key success metrics.
Outstanding communication, presentation and leadership skills.
Ability to write clear user stories and other agile artefacts.
Preferred (but not essential)
Experience in digital marketing (driving traffic to site, tagging/tracking, PPC, SEO, CRM, etc) and GDPR compliance.
Previous experience in video transcoding, processing, streaming products.
Experience with A/B testing and optimisation programmes to improve conversion.
