Product Manager (API User Experience)

The Product Manager role, within the Innovation and Emerging Products team, will join a team of experienced product managers striving to engage our fintech partners by building a digital, end-to-end, self-service experience for Discover’s fintech partners who wish to explore, test, onboard, and go live with products that leverage Discover’s API product portfolio. This role will be critical to help Discover product managers bring API products to market rapidly and uniformly by streamlining and digitally transforming internal processes.

This role will work with the fintech community and various Discover teams across Product, Marketing and Operations to shape the way Discover interacts with our fintech partners across Discover products and service offerings globally. This will require a curiosity and deep understanding of the fintech partner experience, as well as the experience of our Discover product managers and onboarding specialists.

  • Lead and collaborate on the transformation of product vision into actionable strategies, roadmaps, and projects while considering the financial implications, marketing needs, and the overall objectives of Discover’s fintech enablement and API strategy.
  • Be the evangelist for your product strategy with senior leadership and be the lead advocate for investment in your strategy.
  • Lead and collaborate cross functionally across Discover’s client facing & operations teams to identify digital experience requirements, and prioritize enhancements based on the value it brings to our partners & organization.
  • Deliver amazing digital experiences for our partners and customers and increase engagement, exploration, and self-service with Discover partners across existing and emerging digital products.
  • Capture, define, and prioritize a backlog of all partner and internal journeys, with a view on how they can be improved and optimized
  • Engage and interact with clients during feedback sessions, focus groups and requirements gathering sessions.
  • Develop in-depth understanding of customer experience across our B2B API-based partners and build journey maps, personas, and process flows to connect the digital experience to API products.
  • Provide leadership and guidance for the prioritization of API product commercialization according to market research.
  • Provide API product governance to assure quality and consistency of Discover’s API portfolio.
  • Assess the performance of and shape the structure and direction of new and existing product lines and lead the development and execution of strategic product plans for key initiatives such as the introduction of new products, product line extensions, or product enhancements.
  • Be accountable for achieving specific goals for each product, including evaluating product performance, and identifying innovations to address customer needs and improve product performance in the market.

How You’ll Do It

  • Identify sources, monitor, analyze and interpret key product performance metrics including financials, network volumes, other key statistics, and internal/external customer feedback trends, then develop and communicate findings and make strategic and tactical recommendations for performance improvements.
  • Define and execute strategic product roadmaps to build new products, enhance existing products or improve performance.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop strategies and methodologies to on-board new partners.
  • Track and understand industry trends, research findings and competitive innovations.
  • Provide business analysis and reporting on a periodic basis.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to develop or support sales efforts or go-to-market strategies.
  • Serve as product management business lead on cross-functional teams, including internal departments such as sales, operations, legal, marketing, finance, technology in the evaluation, development, management and/or enhancement of assigned products and/or programs.

Qualifications You’ll NeedThe Basics

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Social Sciences, Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field
  • 6+ year of experience in Product Management or Related
  • In lieu of a degree, 10+ years of experience in card payments, network, acquiring, issuing, mobile technologies, digital payments or related, including product management experience

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Great attention to detail and curiosity for digital transformation
  • Payments industry experience across P2P, B2C, B2B, RTP and digital wallets.
  • Knowledge of Discover’s network/operating model
  • Proven experience and understanding of Product Management discipline and end to end product development lifecycle
  • Confident working with limited direction, usually within a complex and evolving environment, to drive delivery of solutions while influencing cultural change
  • Ability to structure and manage complex cross-enterprise projects and processes with multiple stakeholders
  • Proven track record for successfully developing, building, launching and commercializing payment products across markets
  • Ability to embrace change and ambiguity in an ecosystem that is rapidly evolving
  • Master’s degree in Information Technology, Social Sciences, Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in card payments, network, acquiring, issuing, mobile technologies, digital payments or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in Fintech platforms, start-ups, or related field
