Do you have proven experience gained in a specialist digital product role, such as heading up a delivery team in a digital agency or in-house for an online business? Then join Shelter as Digital Product Manager and you could soon be playing a vital role at the heart of our central digital team.
About Shelter
A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change, with individuals, in communities, across society, and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best-in-class individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.
At Shelter we are united by our purpose to defend the right to a safe home. Our enemy is the social injustice at the core of the escalating housing emergency. We believe that to win that fight, we must be representative of the people we are here to help and those who support our movement for change. In all our people decisions, we take pride in being inclusive, fair, equitable and transparent.
We have committed to combat racism both within and outside Shelter and welcome you on our journey to becoming a truly anti-racist organisation.
About the team
Shelter’s digital team plays a key role within the charity by producing exciting service design work that affects our advice services, campaigns and fundraising. As digital and creative leaders, they collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to deliver first-class design, content, products and services in an agile, iterative and data-driven manner. Disciplines in the team include front and back-end development, UX/UI, content design, QA, analytics and more. Collectively, they set the example for Shelter in digital best practice, discovery and innovation. And, right now, they need someone like you on board.
About the role
Working with a multidisciplinary Scrum team, your challenge will be to develop a range of products and services to support our communications and political campaigns. This will include developing our ability to be user and data-led, and leading on the planning, delivery, maintenance and optimisation of a range of digital products. Put simply, you’ll be a key member of our central digital team and get to work alongside and collaborate with devolved teams of specialists in marketing and creative roles.
We are happy to talk about flexible working, personal growth, and to promote a workplace where you can be yourself and achieve success based only on your merit.
About you
To succeed, you’ll need experience of leading on product development – including facilitating ideation and scoping – using metrics, working against organisational strategic objectives, and acting on user research to validate ideas and scope. Experience of agile planning using a range of tools and techniques is important too, as is the ability to advocate for a particular approach while building constructive relationships. Comfortable delivering with cross-functional teams or collaborating with experts from other teams, you enjoy bringing together different digital specialists and enabling them to work together effectively to a common aim. What’s more, you’re great at communicating the principles of good digital practice and technical details of web development to both technical and non-technical audiences. Crucially, you understand how user-focussed digital services can improve people’s lives and are keen to create the most helpful products for people struggling with bad housing or homelessness.
Benefits
We offer a wide range of benefits, including 30 days of annual leave, enhanced family friendly policies, pension, and interest-free travel loans. Our employees also have access to a tenancy deposit loan, payroll giving, cycle to work scheme and an employee assistance programme.
Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We’re here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.
