Product Manager

Total Synergy creates project management software for people who design and make our built environment (architects, engineers, construction designers). Our mission is to give our users #moretimefordesign through our product. We have been making software for our customers since 1999 — which was originally an on-premise application but now a pure cloud SaaS product built on Microsoft Azure cloud technologies. We’re currently the preferred software for our industry in Australia with over 12,000 users in our community. We’re growing that community globally, and now have an office and teammates in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Christchurch as well as the UK with new customers on five continents.

As our product manager reporting to the Product Team leader,  you will be responsible for partnering with our Head of product strategy and the Head of development to support product roadmap items and see them through to delivery. Working alongside a UX product designer, you will work as the bridge between the customer and internal teams.  You will assist the ongoing progression of the product on the basis of continuing to add value to our clients and clients to be.

You will work collaboratively with all team members to guide projects from the strategic user experience design through to development and post-launch direction of ongoing customer growth.

In the role the appointed person will be expected to:

Partner with our Head of Product and the Head of development team to explore and refine product roadmap items to see them through to delivery

Support the product direction and strategy via detailed requirements and prototypes
Plan & facilitate customer research (via interviews & surveys), and utilise these insights to drive customer-centric product development
Balance time between work in progress and upcoming requirements to support and facilitate the development team
Work closely with internal teams to understand customer sentiment, needs, wants & frustrations, as well as tempering this perspective with your own data (qualitative & quantitative)
Work on new Greenfield products with the direction of the Team lead,  to enhance the way our customers use Synergy
Provide a smooth delivery of product in partnership with the teams

Work closely with development and design to groom backlogs and line up sprints
Support and communicate release goals to support the product vision
Communicate delivery progress and release milestones
Conduct analysis of systems and processes impacted by product initiatives
Monitor key product metrics, and utilise data observations in product decision making

>5+ years experience working as a Product Manager responsible for a team in a SaaS organisation
Ability to prioritise opportunities by weighing business and customer needs in decision making
Proven track record for driving positive customer solutions through deep advocacy and clever problem solving
A practical understanding of Agile development and product delivery lifecycle
This role requires an understanding of accounting practice and project financials

Experience or a background in accounting is a bonus but not required for the role
Experience with accounting systems such as MYOB or Xero
Customer focused – you focus over the details of our customer experience, and think outside the box to anticipate the needs of users
You love breaking down complex problems into their simplest form to achieve elegant solutions
You’re a self-starter who can identify improvement opportunities within the team and see things through to delivery in partnership with them
Deeply analytical, you’re inquisitive and question potential conclusions and assumptions to form well rounded team solutions

Total Synergy is a group of people-centred by a great culture. We have meaningful values, a hardworking and supportive team, and a vision that is focused on growing our community of users around the world.

We are a jeans and t-shirt company, family-friendly, transparent and open, generally quite nerdy, and supportive of each other. We’re based in a very cool, custom-designed office in central North Sydney for those based there — close to transport and services, surrounded by lots of eateries,  cafes, drinking holes for those that like this, and shops — and we’ve earned a few perks along the way, like barista coffee, a well-stocked drinks fridge, cool tees + hoodies, professional development resources, a coaching culture, are supportive of either working from home or in office, and we continue to review and add to these as we go. We value diversity of perspective and seek to build an inclusive workplace that welcomes people from any and all backgrounds.

If you require any specific support during the hiring process, please advise us and we will be happy to adapt according to your needs.

You will get feedback if you are not progressing but if you are, this is the process to expect:
