About the UKHO

The UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) is an executive agency, sponsored by the Ministry of Defence. We work with a wide range of data partners to chart the world’s oceans in order to develop and serve world leading software and data solutions to commercial shipping companies, navies and maritime organisations.

Our products (found on over 90% of ships trading internationally) ensure safe navigation and global trade efficiency and support other marine activities including economic development, environmental protection, resource exploration and utilisation, scientific research and security and defence.

The role

We are entering an exciting period of rapid change as the maritime industry moves to digital navigation and situational awareness.

You will be joining of an experienced team who are instrumental in understanding customer needs and problems and have a delivery focus to ensure changes and benefits are realised through engagement with the defence customer. As a Defence Product & Service Manager, you will deliver new products and services and improvements to existing products and services to improve their value, usefulness and to drive defence customer utilisation. You will have ownership over the products and services that are allocated and will be required to manage all aspects of the product and service ensuring change is delivered to defence customers and users as seamlessly as possible and can realise its stated benefits aligning to wider business direction and priorities.

You will bring to the role a track record of defining and launching products and services that are fit for purpose and delivered seamlessly. You will have an understanding of defence requirements capture, user research and delivery principles, as well as experience of working with users to understand their problems, using insight to identify opportunities.

Please note you will be required to attend the office for a minimum of 2 days per week dependent on meetings and delivery schedules. However, the team works flexibly and where possible you will be able to plan your own work schedule and work at home on remaining days in the week. The post will involve national and international travel.
