ROLE OVERVIEW
The 5th Ingredient is seeking their first Product Manager. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will play a key role in defining, launching and executing the company’s Product Management function, working closely with Engineering, Project Management, Senior Leadership, CX and Sales.
You will own the Product Requirements Document creation and process, taking over problem definition and requirements gathering responsibilities and driving roadmap items from concept to successful launch.
As you become more familiar with the company’s product, customers, operations and strategy, you will take over ownership of the product roadmap, prioritization, product operations, success measurement, feedback standardization, go-to-market planning for product launches and product process optimization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Requirements
- Own all Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) from concept to launch
- Working with cross-functional stakeholders and customers, gather and document customer and business needs, solutions and feature requirements, scope and timeline limitations, success criteria, and Go-to-Market considerations for all new features and improvements
- Partner with Engineering to translate PRDs to functional specifications and acceptance criteria
- Regularly re-evaluate scope to ensure timely launches
- Perform user acceptance testing and sign off on releases
- Maintain a regularly updated backlog of PRDs and run regular backlog reviews
Product Roadmap: Tactical
- Update and communicate the status of roadmap items on a regular and frequent basis
- Develop a process to more accurately estimate launch dates and confidence levels
- Partner with Engineering and Customer Experience to ensure that the balance of bugs vs feature development is inline with overall business needs and product strategy
- Establish and maintain a quarterly roadmap planning and communication process
Product Roadmap: Strategic
- Analyze usage data and customer feedback to deeply understand product adoption and stickiness, then use these insights to guide the product roadmap and improve customer retention
- Analyze Sales feedback to deeply understand the reasons that deals are won and lost, then use these insights to guide the product roadmap and improve new revenue growth
- Partner with Senior Leadership to develop a roadmap prioritization methodology that creates an optimal balance between product changes that drive retention, new revenue and product strategy and vision in a way that supports business growth goals
- Perform quarterly market and competitive analysis to stay on top of trends and impact roadmap & strategy
- Provide input into the product vision and strategy developed by Senior Leadership, and ensure that the roadmap supports and aligns with the strategy
Go-to-Market Planning & Communication
- Work with cross-functional stakeholders to create agreements on launch timelines and requirements
- Develop a launch checklist and manage it closely for every launch
- Train customer-facing teams on new features and improvements
- Join customer and prospect meetings to support product education and gather feedback
- Manage betas and early adopter releases
Product Feedback
- Develop and maintain a system to centralize, track and categorize all internal and external product feedback
- Regularly communicate feedback trends and their roadmap status internally
- Develop a system for understanding which feedback trends are most likely to affect retention & new revenue
Success Measurement
- Develop a methodology and process for measuring success and ROI on major releases
- Implement a process for setting feature launch KPIs and following up on results
- Set quarterly product OKRs and report progress and status to the company
Interdepartmental Collaboration
- Serve as the Product & Engineering ambassador to the Sales and Customer Experience teams
- Understand complex technical challenges and convey them to non-technical stakeholders
- Partner with your cross-functional partners to solve operational and communication challenges
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES
- Product management experience
- Required: 2-4 years of product management experience
- Bonus points: Experience as the first Product Manager at a B2B startup in the $3M-$10M ARR range
- Experience with products that collect data and meaningful insights
- Experience turning ideas into action and showing results
- Experience managing feature development from concept to launch
- Experience defining prioritization, feedback collection, roadmapping and product operations methodologies

- Take over ownership of all in-progress and/or planned Product Requirements Documents
- Understand the existing stakeholder-facing product roadmap and communicate changes and updates regularly
By 6 Months
- Prioritize the backlog regularly and ensure the engineering team is working on the most important items
- Develop an updated 6-12 month roadmap with a clear story and prioritization methodology that addresses adoption and retention data as well as sales and new revenue feedback
- Optimize the Product Requirements Document and Process to set up the Engineering team for success in meeting customer and business needs
- Partner with the Project Manager to help continuously drive the Engineering team’s velocity forward
- Make improvements to interdepartmental product-related communication, feature launch readiness and go-to-market support, feedback collection and categorization, prioritization and more
- Monitor and share success metrics for the product as well as individual launches
- Set, communicate and report on Product Management OKRs
By 12 Months
- Drive data literacy within the team
- Use data to share the value your team is delivering and drive iterations of releases
- Develop a system for aligning the product roadmap with the business and product strategy and measuring how the roadmap drives new revenue growth and net revenue retention
- Lead the creation and management of improved systems and processes for interdepartmental product-related communication, feature launch readiness and go-to-market support, feedback collection and categorization, prioritization, OKR setting, success measurement and more

Position Details and Benefits
- W2 Employee, full time, based in the United States
- $120k-$140k, dependent on experience, with eligibility for year-end performance bonuses and employee stock options
