Product Owner

PaymentSense is one of the fastest growing companies in the country. We provide Chip & Pin, EPoS and other payments services to small businesses across the UK. We currently have an immediate requirement for an accomplished and ambitious Product Owner. We’re an innovative and technology orientated business with a constant flow of business critical projects, all of which have demanding deadlines. You’ll need to bring energy and intensity to the role, while ensuring the results are of the highest possible quality.

In this role you will be responsible for bridging the gap between our development team and the rest of the business. The development team is working on a number of projects based around our bespoke CRM system, the Mothership. Working closely with the directors, the Product Owner will manage this process and prioritise the teams’ workload within an Agile framework. You’ll need to factor individual requirements and rank commercial projects in order of how critical they are to the business. There are numerous stakeholders with every project who will want their projects at the top of the list so it will be your responsibility to manage their expectations and communicate the wider business needs with clarity and transparency. You will be expected to provide them with regular status updates and commercial release notes that the wider business community can easily understand. At the end of each sprint, you will collect their feedback and consult with the development team about any changes to the user requirements to ensure that the end deliverables are satisfactory.

This is a brand new role so we need someone with previous experience as a product owner or scrum master, preferably for 2-4 years. We want you to become our Agile evangelist so you need to be very familiar with the Agile process and have working knowledge of Agile management software, such as Target Process, On Time, Pivotal Tracker etc.  A basic understanding of release management will help you hit the ground running. You will need to be able to quickly grasp complex business needs and articulate these needs to both tech teams and users. As you will be acting as our bridge between teams it is essential that you can communicate clearly and “translate” between the tech and business teams. This will become a pivotal role in what is already an innovative and rapidly growing company, so you’ll need to be very adaptable, a strong communicator and have the ability to motivate and inspire those around you.

You’ll need a strong and confident personality to manage and engage end users across the business, acting as the critical meeting link between technology and the wider business. This role operates with autonomy and responsibility in a deadline driven function, so you’ll need to match these demands with consistent focus and intensity.
