As a Technical Product Owner at Sainsbury’s Bank, you will be a key part of shaping the future of our organisation and how we lead the data agenda. The successful candidate will work with the product management function in the Chief Data Office, driving the development of our big data platform.

Our mission inside the Bank’s CDO team is to help Sainsbury’s Bank create a data advantage. We do this by helping our managers, data analysts and scientists across credit risk, financial crime, operations, finance, customer and trading teams to make better decisions with data. Whether it’s driving our Business Intelligence reporting or looking at how to be more efficient at deploying machine learning models, there is a range of new technologies and tools to work with. In addition, with the potential to collaborate with our retail colleagues, our product owners have a chance to engage with exciting opportunities.
As a product owner passionate about analytics, you will be responsible for driving the roadmap and prioritisation of development work on our data platform. On a day-to-day level, you’ll be collaborating with our colleagues across the Bank to understand their reporting and data requirements. You’ll also work closely with our architecture and development teams to deliver new services. Backlog grooming is something that you know well, and you’ll also be able to understand the delicate balance across new features, tech debt and automation. You will have worked in agile environments before, and alongside developers.
You’ll be:
-Developing strong relationships across multiple business areas within the Bank and across the Sainsbury’s Group data teams
-Developing the product roadmap, working collaboratively with internal stakeholders
-Defining product requirements, including the articulation of very clear, thorough and detailed user stories for complex features and product sets
-Delivering ROI for our business through the features that you help to prioritise
and your colleagues within CDO to design solutions that support our understanding of our customers
-Working closely with respective development teams to oversee the delivery of the objectives aligned to your platform, including any third party suppliers
-Deeply understand our customers’ needs and gather requirements from stakeholders across our business
-Identifying the gaps in our data strategy and build plans to improve our data capability through our data platform
-Supporting and helping inform the Bank’s development of the data platform, ensuring appropriate ROI
-Adopt a lean/agile mentality whenever possible to deliver initiatives
You’ll bring:
-At east 2 years experience within a product management/ownership role within an agile environment
-A track record of managing multiple stakeholders and strong examples of clear and concise communication
-Experience of translating requirements between business teams and technical teams, and articulating requirements through user stories
-Independent, able to work efficiency with little supervision and with a high degree of self-motivation
-Excellent inter-personal, problem solving and verbal and written communication skills
-Experience of delivering in collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams
-Experience with data or analytics tools is highly desirable
