Product Manager: Newsletter

Overview

The Business of Fashion is seeking a passionate, experienced Product Manager to drive the expansion of a fast-growing, start-up media company. With your strong background in developing ‘must-read’ email products, you’ll help us optimise and innovate our cornerstone product, one of the most influential products for fashion.

What We Need You To Do

As a focused and energetic member of the Product team, you will work closely with a Senior Product Manager, UX designers, developers, and QA to create and deliver a suite of content distribution and marketing products which attract and delight our community of users and members.You will be responsible for the technical development of our email platform, the product strategy for current and new email products, and assisting to ensure operational processes are in place to enable full use of the capabilities innovated.In being successful in this role, you will:

  • Help decide what we should build:
    • Analyse data and product KPIs to understand users and user behaviour, and measure what works
    • Work alongside colleagues from multiple departments (including editorial, marketing, and commercial) to understand business needs
    • Articulate the business/customer value behind each initiative, own the value proposition for your users and act as the domain expert and voice of the user
  • Coordinate product delivery:
    • Continuously prioritise solutions which deliver the most impact for the business
    • Distil initiatives into units of work for the development team, with great user stories and definition
    • Collaborate with Engineers and Designers during development to deliver continuous releases via agile sprints
    • Manage communication to ensure stakeholders are well informed about your projects
  • Ensure quality:
    • Ensure solutions meet the required level of quality alongside our QA team
  • Maintain operational performance:
    • Ensure our editorial and marketing teams can easily and reliably manage our email distribution
    • Maintain an excellent relationship with our ESP to ensure we make the most of our chosen supplier

The Ideal Candidate

Who You Are

You are a user-obsessed Product Manager with a background in email products and platforms, who likes to work at pace in a start-up environment. You are naturally collaborative and relish working with alongside colleagues from across the business. You also have an eye for detail, are comfortable with data and already understand the technical architecture that drives email experiences.

Outside of that, you will have the following skills that will help set you up for success:

  • Product management or product ownership experience for email or email platform products
  • Proven ideas & tactics to drive sign-ups and user engagement with newsletters and other communications
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with design and development teams in an agile environment
  • Technical understanding and experience working with external ESPs (Mailchimp preferably, and ideally more than one)
  • Comfortable with data – with an ability to draw actionable insights
  • Intimately acquainted with regulation around email communication
  • Tenacious problem solving, and a pragmatic approach to delivering value through product improvement
