Job Description
We are recruiting a Senior Product Manager who will be responsible for managing a critical portfolio of People Systems products to make life better for our employees.
The successful applicant must have an excellent understanding of digital HR products and processes, as well as line management skills.
The position involves managing a wide range of stakeholders including; executives, directors, managers, HR and IT teams and suppliers. As such, the ability to collaborate and negotiate best outcomes is required.
We are looking for someone with line manager experience, subject matter expertise, is a user champion and innovator and has organisational and commercial acumen.
Principal Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of products to achieve value for the business by delivering best user experience, simplicity, flexibility and reduced costs and increased speed of delivery
Manage portfolio reviews with the business to provide cross functional engagement, providing aligned strategy and governance around prioritisation, plans and decisions.
Develop individual product strategy:
o Develop technology and product roadmaps
o Propose business cases and own product cost models
o Optimise existing technology and products, retire or replace ineffective solutions and look to the future
Acquiring product expertise
o Acquiring knowledge to become a subject matter expert in assigned products, primarily digital HR products but could include non-HR products
o Using robust knowledge management practices
Deliver agreed portfolio results by driving measurable benefits (for users, customers, franchisees or company as applicable)
Define and/or be accountable for product success criteria (that support business objectives), collecting key metrics and measuring performance
Design easy to use and intuitive technology
Stakeholder management
Build supplier and business relationships
o Engage Global and UK IT functions such as governance, architecture, service operation, implementations and project delivery
o Engage with non-IT functions e.g. People, legal, finance, operations, franchising etc.
o Leading cross functional teams where appropriate
Team management by nurturing talent, supporting and helping team to do their best, setting performance goals and managing personnel development
Contributing to maturing the department’s product management function
Adhering to McDonald’s policies and technical standards
Discover opportunities through marketplace and competition research
Keep in touch with latest HR and HR systems trends in technologies, business models and innovations
Skills:
3+ years’ of product leadership experience ideally with digital HR products but role may manage non-HR products as well e.g. finance systems products
Experience of working in large-scale retail organisations, with federated and centralised sectors
Understands the roles and responsibilities throughout the product development life cycle
General understanding of a broad range of relevant technologies that support products
Experienced in managing third-party suppliers, including offshore
Self-directed and independent
Able to work well in a fast paced, changing environment
Excellent written and verbal communication combined with effective presentation skills
People and line management experience
Financial planning and budgeting experience
