Okay, so being big in Japan is a cliche – but in our case, it’s true!
We’re Mercari – the most popular marketplace app in Japan. And as well as getting bigger and bigger in the US, we’ve now got our eye on cracking the UK.
We’ve already set up a London office with a bunch of fun, passionate and extremely talented people from all over the world. And we’re after a product manager to join the crew.
What you’ll be doing
We need a passionate and professional person to:
- Lead and motivate a cross functional team of engineering, design and QA for a key area of the business
- Work with the team’s product designer to define user problems and solutions
- Write stories, acceptance criteria – and providing absolute clarity to engineers
- Ensure every release is both delightful for our users and helps grow the community
- Run user interviews, conducting research, and really understanding your user
- Communicate how we’ll deliver to the product vision across the business
- Advocate for best-in-class product practice
- Help build a revered product and engineering culture
What you should bring to the table
First, the must-haves:
- 2+ years commercial experience
- Consumer facing mobile product experience
- Experience in a growing / scaling business (from startup ideally)
- A good understanding of, and appreciation of, UX and design processes
- Strong communicator and natural leader
Next, the nice-to-haves:
- Experience working on a platform or marketplace product
- Experience implementing Agile across cross functional teams
- Experience with search / discovery products
- Experience with payment / shipping products
- Experience working with growth teams
You should also be highly-motivated, able to communicate intelligently with your team, prepared to overcome tough challenges, and be capable of learning from mistakes. We don’t ask for much, do we?! Don’t worry though – we’ll make it worth your while…
