Role Description

As the Product Manager responsible for search quality, you will ensure that customer’s content is not only safe but also discoverable to deliver a delightful experience in Dropbox’s core product. To do so, you’ll work hand-in-hand with engineering to define metrics, set targets, prioritize work, run and evaluate experiments, and validate the overall success of search. You will pose and answer questions about when to use machine learning and when to use heuristics. You will help engineering assess the importance of engineering investments as they relate to long-term goals. In doing so, you will define how Dropbox addresses search quality, not just take over an existing process.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with research and analytics to use large bodies of qualitative and quantitative data on search usage to deeply understand, document, analyze, and synthesize user needs
  • Set a long-term direction for search quality, including product priorities, roadmap plans, and metric definition and goals
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ship new, impactful changes to how search works, including preparing necessary technical specifications, coordinating development activity, and tracking progress of in-flight projects
  • Clearly communicate direction, roadmaps, and progress across the company

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, specialization in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics preferred.
  • 5 years or more experience as a Product Manager or similar or experience as a Software Engineer, Designer or startup Founder
  • Launched successful products and features with experience relevant to search quality (for example, a recommendations or newsfeed-like feature)
  • Ability to analyze and use data to inform decisions, preferably in the context of experiments
  • Deep understanding and empathy for users
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead teams and work cross-functionally in a highly collaborative environment
  • Ability and willingness to travel to San Francisco on a recurring basis for in-person meetings with relevant engineers based there
