POSITION SUMMARY:

The learning platform and full suite of next-generation courses on the ASUP roadmap will leverage adaptive technologies to meet students where they are with fully personalized learning and individualized pacing. Additionally, these products will feature entirely custom experiential learning environments that are built leveraging the most engaging and immersive technologies to design a discovery-based, learner outcome-centered, approach. Drawing from ASU’s culture of innovation, the ASU Prep Product team is creating the future of learning.

We are looking for a creative, organized, driven, and empathetic Product Manager to join our growing product development team. This role will work with the product management, UX, design, and engineering teams to ideate, innovate and manage the development of ASU’s next generation of learning products for ASU Prep Digital and ASU Preparatory Academy, specifically the ASU Prep Learning Cloud product suite. The Product Manager will:

Report to the Director of Product Management
Innovate, create and explore new ways to help ASU Prep products achieve the Product Vision, ASU Prep Vision and ASU Charter.
Work closely and collaboratively with Curriculum, project management, UX, and engineering teams
Work with product stakeholders to identify, research, prioritize, and schedule Learning Cloud platform feature development and improvements
Work closely with the product team to conduct user research, analyze data, identify new/needed features and updates, as well as ensure all features make it through QA and successful release
Exceptionally strong writing skills, with experience writing requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
Manage iterative improvement and development cycles to further optimize and maximize the product team’s ability to deliver on promised value and goals
Be responsible for feature backlog management, and planning for the on time delivery of product feature and improvement projects
Collaboratively create and communicate product news and features to customers, leadership and product stakeholders
Field and manage user support tickets related to bugs or needed platform enhancements
Our product development team is passionate about improving outcomes for students and disrupting the education space, but we also try to have a little fun while doing it! We are looking for someone who is very organized, has experience in the platform or product development space, has experience creating update decks/communications for leadership, enjoys a good “dad joke” every now and then, and doesn’t take themselves too seriously.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree required
5+ years of product management or related experience required
Experience in education industry preferred, but not required
Strong experience working on a SaaS, mobile app, or other digital product development team highly preferred
Experience working cross functionally within a product development team (i.e. Product Owners, UX, Engineering, QA, etc) is required
Exceptional writing ability, including a demonstrated ability to write user communication about product features and differentiators as well as experience writing feature requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
Experience working in a SCRUM environment or proven knowledge of the SCRUM processes is a plus
Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Consult with various stakeholders (administrators, curriculum specialists, partners, teachers, students, parents, etc) to identify and document business needs and objectives, current operational procedures, problems, input and output requirements as well as data scope, usage, formatting, and other requirements; obtain additional information during development and evaluate alternative features for users.
Conduct feature research and validation activities.
Assist in conducting user testing, including gathering both qualitative and quantitative data to inform decision making. Request data/reports to analyze platform and course usage by users in order to develop new or modified feature needs.
Write user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria for new features and updates.
Gather, write, and maintain user requirements for modified platform features.
Help manage and provide input in the prioritization of the platform development feature backlog.
Study existing students, teachers, and partner use cases to evaluate platform effectiveness and develop improvements as required.
Provide assistance to UX and engineering teams in identifying, evaluating, and developing features and procedures.
Consult and coordinate with UX and engineering to design, develop, and test feature prototypes.
Coordinate the QA testing and release processes for new products and features.
Track and document changes to user requirements. Monitor and document post-implementation user problems and revision requests.
Prepare and maintain all product status reports and schedules; track milestones and deliverables, critical paths and dependencies; reassess expectations as needed in consideration of sprint progress and outcomes.

Experience with writing clear and precise user stories and acceptance criteria which convey critical functional requirements for use by UX, Development, and QA teams.
Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills with demonstrated ability to interact with diverse audiences.
Demonstrated ability to establish and meet quantitative and qualitative objectives.
Highly organized, detail-oriented and results-driven focus.
Strong skill in stakeholder management.
Experience with project and product management softwares (Asana, Confluence, etc)
