About ChangeX
We are ChangeX. We have built a platform to connect communities to proven ideas and funding to scale sustainable impact.
Our mission? To empower people everywhere to change their communities for the better by making it easy for them to access the ideas, funding and support they need.
With our support, great ideas like Playing with Trust, Education for Sharing, Revolusolar, Play Action Box, Open Orchard and Community Fridge, are being adopted by communities across the world.
So far, almost 30,000 community projects have started through ChangeX, scaling more than 200 innovations and benefitting almost two million people.
Our business model is called Impact as a Service. We make it easy for funders to invest in the ideas they want to spread in regions they care most about. Our partners include Microsoft, Accenture, the LEGO Foundation, ServiceNow, PWC, Amazon Web Services and Nickelodeon.
Our team and how we work:
As a small development team, including a product manager and team of fullstack and frontend engineers, we run a lightweight process that focuses on feature-based delivery on a weekly basis.
Remote working is part of our company’s DNA. Our development team currently works remotely, with team members in Ireland, Spain and Brazil.
This role: Product Designer
We’re looking for a product designer who shares our belief in the power of great technology to transform lives. The role is an opportunity for a mid level product designer, with a keen interest in creating seamless and inclusive user experiences, to be part of the core Product Team that scales ChangeX over the coming years.
We are currently going through an exciting growth phase, evolving our user experience to meet more diverse user needs, including those in more rural and lower tech bandwidth regions. This role is about guiding the design strategy as we improve the user experience and visual design of our web and mobile experience.
Key parts of this role will be to:
- Conceptualize and work with the team to build high-quality, intuitive user experiences across platforms.
- Work with the team to incorporate diverse user needs into user flows and design, that not only meet accessibility standards but enhance the user experience in new and innovative ways.
- Create user experience artefacts including functional specs, user flows, wireframes, sitemaps, prototypes, and low-fidelity sketches.
- Iterate on design solutions based on feedback, research and test results.
- Work with the team to run qualitative and quantitative user research projects.
- Collaborate with engineers to maintain and improve our design system, to ensure consistency and coherence across experiences.
- Contribute to overall strategy and decision-making about product direction.
- If/when time allows, contribute to wider design efforts across the organisation.
Some of the upcoming priorities on our roadmap you’ll work on include:
- Improve the applicant user experience to make it more accessible to a broader group of users from diverse contexts.
- Enhance the mobile user experience.
- Improve the fund-management interface, supporting our move towards a self-serve product for funders and social innovators.
- Support our engineering team to develop a seamless frontend user experience as we develop more of the platform in Next.js and React.
We are looking for people* who have:
- A strong ability to think strategically about product design and to also dive into the details.
- 3+ years of design experience with a demonstrated portfolio designing for a range of audiences and devices on the web.
- A strong design sense that values usability, simplicity and consistency.
- The ability to create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and other design artefacts to communicate complex concepts, and explain the reasoning behind designs.
- A proficiency in design tools such as Figma.
- A strong understanding of user-centred design principles and methodologies, with accessibility a key criteria considered in all design.
- Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and user feedback analysis.
- Great communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
- The ability to adapt to fluid organisation and processes, be open to feedback, and drive iterations.
- A demonstrated commitment to social change.
- A strong empathy and ethical fibre.
*We encourage you to apply if you believe your skills and experience are a good fit for this role, even if you don’t tick every box above. When making hiring decisions, we aim to be inclusive and look beyond checklists. We want to find people who bring fresh perspectives and want to grow with our organisation.
Remuneration: Competitive salary, negotiable based on experience and location (between $60,000 – $70,000 plus benefits)
Benefits:
- 25 holiday days per year plus flexible hours
- Flexible working options: remote, in office or a hybrid
- Annual performance-related bonus
- Pension scheme after 6 months of employment (dependent on your location)
