Hi 👋 we’re Glean. We make study software that makes learning quicker and easier for everyone.
We’re a SaaS scale up and one of the fastest growing tech companies in the North.
There’s 100+ of us around the UK with our HQ in Leeds.
Our software is award-winning and used by 100,000s of students at over 800 universities & colleges worldwide.
We’re growing so we can achieve our mission to support 1 million students to become better learners by 2026.
The role of Personal Learning System (PLS) Lead Product Manager:Â
We’re developing a new green-field product related to personal learning, and we are looking for a Lead Product Manager to join us on this journey.
Incubating the Product
To bring this product to existence, this role will work as part of a small “Skunkworks” team under the direct leadership of our Founder. Starting small while we validate the design and core functionality, this team will take ownership of the product and must work semi-independently from the rest of the company. Once the product has achieved product-market fit, we will integrate this unit into the broader company.
Year 1 ObjectivesÂ
- Design and validate the design and requirements of the platform in alignment with our vision and strategy, developing the product roadmap and GTM plan
- Create and launch a product users love, based on our Learning Principles, and gain traction.
- Build a community of users, advocates, and contributors who align with our mission and will expedite our growth.
- Develop the value proposition for platform and education partners and secure at least one partnership, increasing the product’s reach.
What you’ll be doing:Â
- Balanced discovery & delivery:Â lead discovery to validate assumptions and ensure the product meets user needs while driving towards strategic vision
- User and problem obsession:Â maintain a strong focus on user experience in every decision while designing for impact
- Collaboration with CEO and Subject Matter Experts: Work closely with the CEO, understanding their vision while ensuring what gets built is feasible, valuable, and aligned with business goals. Seek input from SMEs (internal and external) in AI, learning experience design, information architecture, and edtech.
- Speed and agility: keep the team moving, avoiding unnecessary complexity and prolonged decision-making
- Community building: create a community of early adopters and advocates willing to provide regular feedback on designs and prototypes.
About you:
- Innovation-driven:Â focused on innovation, especially in edtech, and keen on exploring new technologies and ways of doing things.
- “Zero to One” product management expertise: 5-7 years in product management, with a proven track record of bringing new products to market
- Passionate about learning and knowledge management:Â impact-driven and knowledgeable about learning and productivity with personal experience using personal knowledge management systems or note-taking tools.
- Resourceful and pragmatic with an “I’ve got it” attitude: extreme ownership even when tasks are unfamiliar and challenging. Has the ability to simplify complex ideas and break down projects into actionable steps while maintaining a focus on execution
- Low ego, strong backbone: can take on different perspectives while focusing on what’s best for the business and users. Able to challenge their assumptions as well as those of others when necessary.
- Visionary yet execution-focused:Â able to think strategically about long-term product evolution while delivering immediate value through iterative releases
- Scope management & prioritisation:Â excellent at managing scope creep and prioritising, focusing on quick learning, validation and fast delivery over perfection
- Communication & stakeholder management:Â skilled in communicating complex ideas concisely and managing stakeholders effectively
- Decision-making under uncertainty:Â strong decision-making skills in ambiguous situations, comfortable with pivoting based on new learnings
- UX and product discovery focus: has a deep passion for UX design and product discovery, with experience in user research, usability testing, and rapid prototyping.
