Hello ✨
We’re Happy Scribe, a 100% bootstrapped and profitable startup based in Barcelona, on a mission to make the internet accessible.
We offer transcription and subtitling services that combine AI with the expertise of language professionals to create a 5-star product. We’re working on one of the fundamental problems of this decade: speech-to-text technology.
We’re just 17 people at the moment, but growing fast and profitable (€4.5M ARR, 110% YoY growth) and we’re building the team thoughtfully and with a lot of care.
About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead our product team, which until now has been led by our two co-founders. You will be responsible for leading the development and execution of our product strategy, helping shape the future of audio and video accessibility.
You’ll be working closely with 4 Product Engineers, a Product Designer, and reporting directly to the founders. You’ll also be collaborating with Leo, who has been Product Managing the transcriber side of the platform after setting up the transcriber operations team. It’s a small team with no Head of Product; this is a great opportunity for a Senior Product Manager who wants to step up their level of impact.
About the product roadmap
There are two core parts of our product: the one customers interact with, and the one our freelance transcribers interact with.
On the customer side, we’re at an exciting moment in our growth trajectory, looking to shift the focus beyond standardised transcription and subtitling to a more differentiated and sticky product that meet the needs of our B2B users. Happy Scribe was born as a B2C company, but when we analysed our revenue back in 2020, we saw the scale of the opportunity in B2B and shifted our focus. We’re now working hard to build a product that meet the needs of our diverse B2B user base, adding project management, analysis and collaboration tools.
On the freelancer side, we’ve been working hard to improve the gig recommendation and transcriber experience, whilst creating no-code or low-code ways that enable the operations team to use the platform more independently.
What you’ll do
- In collaboration with the Product team and founders, develop the product strategy and road map, and support its execution
- Define, analyse and track key performance indicators for the product
- Collect and prioritise customer and market feedback
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver product updates on-time and on-budget
- Develop and maintain the product backlog and prioritise features, communicating progress and status to stakeholders and leadership team
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and incorporate new technologies and methodologies into the product development process
What you’ll bring
We are looking for exceptional individuals to join our team and believe that they can come from anywhere. If you feel like you don’t meet all of the requirements for this role, we encourage you to apply anyways.
- Ideally 3 or 4+ years experience as a PM, or 2 years experience as a PM, coming from a background in product (for example as a Product Analyst, Product Engineer or Product Designer)
- You have a business mindset and know how to prioritise and drive growth
- You’re data driven and analytical, able to use data tools like Amplitude, and run simple SQL queries. You have strong data intuition and the ability to identify and remove biases when gaining insights from data. You know how to determine what metrics matter the most for a new feature.
- You’re happy to be hands-on with user research: you have empathy with users, know how to conduct user interviews and you’re happy to do this regularly, and you close the feedback loop to quickly iterate
- You have proven experience of working on the day-to-day with engineers, designers, and user researchers; guiding them on the product development process. Conducting retros and plannings. This means they have been involved in the requirements and have seen them through.
