Last but not least, you are driven to leave your signature on the product and company’s future and work closely with the co-founders. Reporting directly to the CEO (who’s also one of the co-founders), you’ll bridge product, engineering, marketing, and customer experience, bringing them together to create seamless, high-impact payment solutions.
About the role
We’re looking for a Product Manager to create financial solutions that are friendly, fast, transparent, and designed for real-world needs. We are looking for someone bold enough to make pivots without compromising our long-term vision and adaptable enough to navigate an ever-evolving regulatory environment.
As a Product Manager you’ll own the product strategy, roadmap design and execution, working at the intersection of finance, technology, and user experience.
Main responsibilities:
- Define and drive the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs
- Own the backlog, prioritization, and execution, balancing strategy with rapid delivery
- Collaborate with engineering, UX, commercial and marketing teams to build products that empower businesses and creators
- Create detailed PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria to ensure clear execution
- Leverage data, user feedback, and market insights to optimize products and boost engagement
- Ensure seamless integration of payment technologies, API-driven solutions, and regulatory requirements
- Lead cross-functional teams to execute sprints, launch new features, and continuously improve the product
- Stay ahead of industry trends and regulatory changes, ensuring our product remains cutting-edge and compliant
Must-haves:
✅ Strong knowledge and experience in fintech or payments, preferably in the EU environment or exposure to multi-region and regulatory complexities in the global financial products
✅ 5+ years in a Product Owner or Product Manager role
✅ Experience in defining and executing product roadmaps that drive business growth
✅ Strong analytical skills – able to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed decisions
✅ Experience working with API-driven products, third-party integrations, and platform-based ecosystems
✅ Strong believer in the Kaizen mindset – you champion continuous improvement by proactively identifying inefficiencies, iterating on solutions, leveraging data-driven insights, and cultivating cross-team collaboration to drive efficiency, innovation, and long-term growth
✅ Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills – you know how to align teams, influence decisions, and drive execution
✅ Curiosity and enthusiasm for building products that make a difference, seeking to understand user needs and market trends
✅ Hands-on experience running A/B tests and experiments to validate product decisions

We envision a future where pay-by-bank becomes the dominant payment method in the EU, replacing traditional card networks like Visa and Mastercard. As this transformation unfolds, smartIBAN aims to be the backbone of payment infrastructure for Payment Service Providers (PSPs), enabling seamless, real-time transactions across Europe.
Technically, we operate as an Electronic Money Institution (EMI), aggregating Virtual IBANs from multiple European countries. While we compete with and complement open banking, we go beyond it, offering a more direct, scalable, and efficient alternative for financial institutions and businesses.
